Well at least it was never officially banned, like in the UK!

-
Yeah but regardless of ratings they need them to help promote interest in the movies in general.

Under musicals?
-
I really hope things get better after Bush leave office...

-
Regarding the "patriotic music" - which video company made your DVD?
-
It would be great if they did release it, officially. Hiding it in the vault like an old skeleton they don't want anybody to see really is a great injustice to a movie that is very important in the history of animation.

Best way to check out a viewer rating is probably through imdb.com or netflix...

Did anyone else catch that little homage to Clockwork Orange in Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny?
I love how even low-brow fare these days will usually do a little something to honor the great movies of the past!

Well hindsight is often 20/20.

-
Well that's standard movie marketing, unfortunately

-
I agree!

-
Well in all honesty that's kind of how any movie ought to be watched!

-
Well it's a low-budget Corman film, it's not supposed to be a masterpiece!

I can't imagine that movie having much appeal to anyone except for the fact that Jack Nicholson is in it.

They have every reason to be, and then some!

Wonder if Paramount did much to promote the movie during its original release?
-
It got a bunch of nominations, aside from the acting ones, because the whole production was just amazing!
-
Me too. I wonder why they never had an opening logo like all the other studios... MGM had the Lion, WB had its shield, Paramount its mountain, Columbia its lady and Fox its thing with the searchlight. RKO had its radio tower, of course. But UA? Never heard of a logo.

And we shouldn't forget Leslie Caron in Father Goose.

-
I wish they could release it on DVD. Maybe as a double-set with Gaby? That would be sooo sweet!

-
George Sanders is always fun to watch, as a good guy, or a bad guy!

"about impossible" sums it up nicely

Rant of the day -- the Bush administration is resorting to *yet* more underhanded tactics to get rid of prosecutors it doesn't want for purely personal reasons -- an doing so with the help of the Justice Department -- http://www.nytimes.com/2007/03/04/washington/04attorneys.html?hp

You mean what's left of it...

David Lean's Madeleine on March 11

Well it's almost sad that the only Lean movie from the 40's that most people seem to remember is Brief Encounter, he made a lot of other good movies.
Let's hope more showings of This Happy Breed and Madeleine help change that a bit!
