Here are two good lines from Rita Hayworth as "Miss Sadie Thompson": "Relax, fellas, You'll wear out your bearings". "Come on in and get wrung out". I just got finished watching the movie and Hayworth was something else. Mongo

I wonder how many of you realized that yesterday was actually Lucille Ball's birthday and she would have been 93 years old. How appropriate it was for TCM to devote a full day to her films which I enjoyed. And Ariel I don't mind watching lush Technicolor films on TCM especially from the 1940s, '50s and '60s. As far as commercials go...bite your tongue. Mongo

Some of my favorite Lucille Ball films are "The Big Street", "Five Came Back", "Stage Door", "The Long, Long Trailer" and "Yours, Mine and Ours".

moira it must be catching because I also goofed. The name of the movie with Virginia Grey is "Swamp Fire" and not "Swamp Water" as I listed. Well, in any event it took place in a swamp. Mongo

I wonder how many are aware that Virginia Grey played Little Eva in the 1927 movie "Uncle Tom's Cabin"? A few guilty pleasure's of mine co-starred the lovely Miss Grey including "Tarzan's New York Adventure", "Swamp Water" standing between former Tarzans' Johnny Weissmuller and Buster Crabbe and "House of Horrors" with the 'Creeper' Rondo Hatton. She wore some chic 1940s clothing in those films...looking good. I believe Producer Ross Hunter used her as a good luck charm since she appeared in quite a few of his movies. Mongo

So sorry to hear about one of my favorites Virginia Grey. That is indeed a nice tribute to the lady moira. May I add that she also gave a good performance as fading stage star Elsie Desmond in "Jeanne Eagels" with Kim Novak. If some of her scenes weren't cut from "The Rose Tattoo" she said that she may have had an Oscar nomination for her excellent work. I also read that Clark Gable was the love of her life and although she dated throughout the years she never married. A trouper indeed, she will be missed. Mongo

A few I would like to see again are: "Our Daily Bread" (1934) Takes place during the Great Depression. "Let No Man Write My Epitaph" (1960) Tenement drama with Shelley Winters and Burl Ives. "The Face Behind Behind the Mask" (1941) Unusual story with a disfigured Peter Lorre in love with a blind girl. "Moment to Moment" Shock and suspense love story with Jean Seberg. "Cobra Woman" Camp classic with Maria Montez playing twins in lush, plush Technicolor. Mongo

The actress who played was Lupe Velez (she appeared in 8 films as the hot tamale). She had a hot and heavy romance with Gary Cooper. She was married to movie Tarzan Johnny Weissmuller. Mongo

It's a wonder how former child star Jane Withers kept her chin up with a sunshine attitude since she had so much tragedy in her life. As a child she was adored by the stars and crew of her movies as well as her child star friends who all enjoyed attending parties at her home. A very generous person, her faith in the Lord also helped her to cope with it all. Mongo

I think that Gloria De Haven would be a good guest for an interview. And lately I'm rooting for lovely Anne Francis to sit a while with Robert Osborne. She handles herself very well in those mini spots on TCM and tells a good story. Mongo
-
I watched the movie "Gods and Monsters" and your right feaito, its a good depiction of the life of James Whale who made two great Frankenstein movies. Mongo
-
I must agree that TCM should play more silent films. Lets face it, thats where it all started and it should be remembered at TCM which is afterall, movie heaven. Mongo

Everytime I see that scene in the supermarket it reminds me of the old days when I went with my grandma to the A&P. Those were the days! Mongo
