  3. I must agree with the choices of Jack Nicholson and Meryl Streep. No doubt there is slim pickin's in todays Hollywood. Mongo
  4. I believe that Faye Dunaway's star status was winding down "before" she made "Mommie Dearest" with films like "The Eyes of Laura Mars"(a bomb), "The Champ" (a small part), "The First Deadly Sin" with Sinatra (another small part) and she was into made for TV movies already. If anything "Mommie Dearest" revitalized interest in Miss Dunaway with hot and cool reviews of the movie although mostlt kudos for her portrayal of Crawford which she deserved. And ML, to this day as hard as Christina Crawford trys to dampen her "mothers" image it just ain't workin' cause the ultimate movie star is as popular as ever and that's how it should be. By the way leo, for your information movie stars were getting big salaries long before Joan Crawford appeared in "Mildred Pierce" in 1945. Mary Pickford got $350,000 in 1919 for "The Hoodlum" Gloria Swanson got $250,000 in 1931 for "Indiscreet" Garbo got $275,000 in 1935 for "Anna Karenina" Dietrich got $450,000 in 1937 for "Knight Without Armour" Mongo
  5. feaito regarding Mitzi Green I got this info from "Who's Who in Hollywood". Famous child star often referred to as "Little Mitzi" - or as critics hailed her in 1930s "Honey", "amazing little Mitzi Green". She hit her starring stride that same year as Becky Thatcher in Coogan's "Tom Sawyer" and soon played the title role in "Little Orphan Annie". Some of Mitzi's other films were "Skippy", "Huckleberry Finn", "Finn and Hattie", "Newly Rich", "Dude Ranch", etc. Leaving the screen in her late teens she starred on Broadway in "Billion Dollar Baby". She returned to the screen in 1952 and supported Abbott and Costello in "Lost in Alaska". Sadly she died at age 48. Mongo
  6. It's Lillian Gish for me. I simply adore everything about this woman. A rare and beautiful actress indeed she was one of a kind. Thank goodness she is preserved on film for generations to come. Mongo
  7. Miss Crawford received $500,000 for making the movie "Mildred Pierce". Mongo
  8. Travis Banton also did costume designs for 20th Century-Fox including stars Betty Grable, Carmen Miranda and Gene Tierney. He also dressed Rita Hayworth in "Cover Girl" and Claudette Colbert in "Cleopatra". As good as Mr. Banton was he never received an Oscar nomination for his work. Mongo
  9. childstarletsfan it's good to see you back on the boards again. It's been a long time. I recall that you had your own thread at one time which I enjoyed and participated in. I also enjoyed your wonderful child star site with some terrific pictures. Perhaps you can tell us what Connie Marshall and Janis Wilson are up to these days. Mongo
