  12. Forgot about Tatum O'Neal. She was outstanding as Addie in "Paper Moon" which won her a well deserved Oscar. Should mention that Jackie Cooper was indeed a brilliant child star especially in "The Champ" with Wallace Beery. Mongo
  13. All well and good sweetbaby. BUT who is your FAVORITE child star? Mongo
  14. Well stated moviejoe. Mongo
  15. May I just add that the black man dancing up the stairs with Shirley Temple is the great Bill 'Bojangles' Robinson.
  16. Thank you so much path for the infinitive listing of 100 Years at the Movies. Finally a complete list I can follow all in one post. Congratulations! Mongo
  17. I recall working with a sweet guy Vjay from India and he couldn't stand the Bollywood movies. He hated when the cast broke out in song and dance during a dramatic scene and much preferred American films. And keith there is nothing wrong with your dislike for the movie "Gone With The Wind" although I feel its a superior production. I say to each his own. Mongo
  18. Your right nick. I've also noticed that the original newsboy voice was replaced which is too bad. I also think that the "new" voice belongs to the limp Ben M. who host the movies on the weekends. I hope TCM brings back that original announcer who sounded like the guy selling papers in those 1930s and 1940s movies. Mongo
  19. Path just to let you know that your list of 100 songs is astounding. The funny thing is that my top 100 list has about 50 songs that are different than yours. It goes to show you that variety is the spice of life. It should be fun comparing our list with the choices made on the AFI show on CBS in June. Mongo
  20. Many child stars have impressed me throughout the years which makes it difficult to choose. However I compiled a list of a dozen moppets who I felt touched my heart and/or amazed me with their performances at one time or another. *Bobs Watson "On Borrowed Time" *Connie Marshall "Sentimental Journey" *Bobby Driscoll "The Window" *Laurie Lee Michel "Mighty Joe Young" (1949) *Claude Jarman Jr. "The Yearling" *Janis Wilson "Now, Voyager" *Freddie Bartholomew "Captains Courageous" *Virginia Weidler in "The Women" *Peggy Ann Garner in "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" *Skippy Homeier "Tomorrow, the World!" *Jane Withers "Bright Eyes" *Joan Carroll "Primrose Path" Mongo
