  1. Van Heflin in "Airport" w/George Kennedy George Kennedy in "Hurry Sundown" w/ Michael Caine Michael Caine in "Jaws: The Revenge" w/ Melvin Van Pebbles
  2. Heck, Victor Mature was never over-rated in his whole career. He was beefcake for the ladies and supported some of the most beautiful actresses in the movies. Wanna know something? I liked him and thought he was outstanding in the crime dramas "Kiss of Death", "I Wake Up Screaming" and "Cry of the City". Also very good in "My Darling Clementine" and "Affair with a Stranger". He also grew on me as Samson in "Samson and Delilah". Trouble is TCM don't have the rights to many of his films made at 20th. Century-Fox. Out of sight, out of mind. Mongo
  3. Marion Hutton was Betty Hutton's older sister. She was only in a few films however she was a success as a big band vocalist of the 1940s notably with Glenn Miller. I believe she also had some hit records. She died of cancer in 1987 at the age of 67. Unfortunately I don't believe that the sisters were getting along. Mongo
  4. Tim Allen in "Tropical Snow" w/ David Carradine David Carradine in "Boxcar Bertha" w/ John Carradine John Carradine in "The Grapes of Wrath" w/ Jane Darwell Jane Darwell in "Craig's Wife" w/ Billie Burke
  5. There were only two versions based on Lillian Hellman's hit play "The Children's Hour". "These Three" with Joel McCrea, Miriam Hopkins and Merle Oberon which didn't include the lesbian connection. "The Children's Hour" with Audrey Hepburn and Shirley MacLaine which did include the lesbian connection. Perhaps your also thinking of the play which begot the two film versions. Mongo
  6. Please connect Mary Carr to Hayden Christensen
  7. May Robson in "Joan of Paris" w/ Alan Ladd Alan Ladd in "The Proud Rebel" w/ John Carradine John Carradine in "The Howling" w/ John Sayles
  8. I was thinking of Indian Graham Greene however one Graham Greene is just as good as the other. Please connect Darla Hood to Colin Farrell
  9. Jean Harlow in "Saratoga" w/ Clark Gable Clark Gable in "Run Silent Run Deep" w/ Burt Lancaster Burt Lancaster in "Airport" w/ Jean Seberg
  10. I would have to pick Juanita Moore in "Imitation of Life" (1959) and Louise Beavers in "Imitation of Life" (1934). Both women expressed motherly love from their heart and soul for their troubled daughters which was a no win situation resulting in broken hearts. Two outstanding performances from two very talented ladies. Mongo
  11. Alice Brady in "Young Mr. Lincoln" w/ Ward Bond Ward Bond in "Tobacco Road" w/ Marjorie Rambeau Marjorie Rambeau in "A Man Called Peter" w/ Ann B. Davis

  15. Gee so sorry to hear about Jan Sterling one of my favorite actresses. She is the main reason I want to see "The High and the Mighty" again for her strong performance that earned her an Oscar nomination. She most always spiced up a movie including "Ace In the Hole" aka "The Big Carnival", "Caged" in which she was a CP (common prostitute), "Johnny Belinda" gave Jane Wyman a hard time about the baby, "The Mating Season", "Rhubarb" about a cat, "The Human Jungle" sexy in a **** outfit, "Women's Prison", "Female on the Beach" one on one with Crawford, "The Harder They Fall" with Bogart, "The Incident" terror on a train etc. She was married to Paul Douglas at the time of his death and they had one son. I wrote to her at the Motion Picture Home last year expressing my thoughts and prayers. Rest in peace lady. Mongo
  16. Just what did one of my favorite actresses Jan Sterling do over the weekend? Mongo
  17. We all think it is a good movie as we posted on the favorite sports flix thread on "Hot Topics". I can tell you that the era of the 1940s was captured in detail and Penny Marshall did a wonderful job directing. One of my favorite parts is the finale at the Baseball Hall of Fame where they all gathered later in life. Even Madonna was good. Mongo
  18. Please connect Penny Singleton to Freddie Prinze Jr.
  19. Jose Ferrer in "Old Explorers" w/ James Whitmore James Whitmore in "The Shawshank Redemption" w/ Morgan Freeman Morgan Freeman in "Eyewitness" w/ James Woods James Woods in "Any Given Sunday" w/ Aaron Eckhart
  20. Sorry its too early for me. The name of course is JOHN GARFIELD!
  21. The one and only John Garland. In most of his movies he didn't trust hardly anyone. SUCKER! Mongo
  22. Just received the curent issue of Classic Images and there is an article about TCM celebrating their 10th. Anniversay on the air in April. Host Robert Osborne talks glowingly about working for Ted Turner and he loves his job. He flies from New York to Atlanta every month and shoots 150 introductions in five days. Once back to New York he starts researching and writing more intros and the whole cycle begins all over again. He went on to say "We have no plans to insert commercials, but nothing is forever". He notes that people at TCM are very committed to not showing commercials. If viewers are very vocal and show support (this policy) is less likely to be changed. He also added that they DO pay attention to viewer request. Also mentioned that "Annie Get Your Gun" was held up because Irving Berlin didn't like the movie. Currently held up is "Call Me Madam" with Merman and "The Constant Nymph" with Joan Fontaine. The station owns about 5000 titles mostly from MGM, WB, UA and RKO. They lease films after negotiation which can result in just two airings, a year or five years. They constantly strive to make it better and WILL NOT pull controversial films from their library as Fox did. It's a dream job says Osborne. Mongo
