  1. My God! It appears that deaths do come in three's. We lost Jeanne Crain, Hope Lange and now Alan Bates all in a row in December.

I recall Alan Bates with admiration. He was an appealing solid English actor who I enjoyed in "Zorba the Greek", "Georgy Girl", King of Hearts", "The Fixer" (Oscar nominee), "Women in Love" (his nude wrestling scene with Oliver Reed surprised me a bit), "A Day in the Death of Joe Egg", "An Unmarried Woman" etc.

He certainly left his mark on the screen.

  3. One story Williams should have kept under wraps was about Jeff Chandler. What good did it do for her to reveal that he was a crossdresser? Especially since his children and grandchildren are subjected to such drivel.

  4. Frank Fay was a popular vaudville entertainer who was once married to Barbara Stanwyck.

When vaudville petered out his career went down the drain and unfortunately he was a drinker. I don't think Hollywood thought much of him as a matinee idol.
