Was the man with the accent married? Was the young lady a neurotic plain Jane transformed into a an attractive woman? Was the young girl in a sanatorium where she met the young lady who was once a patient? At the end of the film did the man with the accent light two cigarettes at the same time? Did they both look up at the stars from a window as the film faded to black?
If any of this sounds familiar it could be the movie
"Now, Voyager" with Bette Davis and Paul Henreid.

Did anyone mention the hilarious movie "The Fuller Brush Girl" which Lucy starred in? This film could have paved the way for Lucy and her screwball antics in "I Love Lucy" which was just a year away.
