Clue # 2 Sisters
-
Unfortunately rosinryanz I don't know how many people will miss Ellen Drew since she has been out of the limelight for many years. Although I was impressed with her smile, manner and pretty face on the big screen especially in "Christmas in July" and "Stars in My Crown" with Joel McCrea among many others.
She wasn't a superstar however she held her own status in the movie making business and has nothing to be ashamed of.
Rest in peace Miss Drew.

I can't believe it! This is the second time recently that I hit it in one shot. Honestly Darcel was the only French actress I could think of. And yes Hope Emerson was a hoot and could be downright evil as she was in "Caged" (Oscar nominee).
OK back to the game.

"Westward the Women" (Denise Darcel)?

Addition:
In memory of actress Ellen Drew whose birthday I posted on November 23rd.
She was a pretty and appealing actress who was a delight in the movie "Christmas in July" with Dick Powell plus many other films.
The news of her passing was reported yesterday.

Stella if ever an Oscar was deserved it was the one that Olivia de Havilland won as Best Actress for her flawless performance in "The Heiress".
She also won the Golden Globe award and the New York Film Critics award.
The National Board of Review must have had a bug up their butt since they listed "no choice" for Best Actress that year although they chose Ralph Richardson who played her father as Best Actor. They did however list "The Heiress" at #4 in their top ten films of 1949.
Go figure.
Mongo
-
Sounds like something Susan Hayward would star in however I just can't seem to pinpoint it....yet.

Regarding the movie "The Heiress" (1949) do you think Catherine Sloper played so beautifully by Olivia de Havilland make the right decision by locking Morris (Montgomery Clift) out of her life?
Or would it have been better for her to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all?

That's why there are good film editors slappy.

Your wish is my command bggalaxy and I shall begin adding the dates tomorrow. And I'm glad you appreciate this thread.

If you ask me I was hoping that she married the bastard and then made his life so miserable that he begged for a divorce. Also keep in mind it is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.
Remember he (Morris) was so pathectic and vulnerable when he returned she had the perfect chance to brow beat the cad and make him her lap dog.
Come to think of it Catherine didn't have a pet.

Slappy that might be a bit harsh, don't you think? What do most kids know at an early age about poisons that may harm them. I'm all for child proof caps since too many children died when such precaution wasn't taken.

"Baby Face" with Stanwyck?
-
Stella the clues all make sense now and just to think that I mentioned Lionel Barrymore who played Mr. Potter in the film. It's one of my all time favorites.
A holiday classic.
Mongo
-
I thought it was "I have been taught by masters"?
Mongo
-
"On Borrowed Time"?
Oh! I don't recall Lionel Barrymore skinnydipping.
-
"The Swimmer"?
-
OK so Geraldine Page didn't swim.
-
"The Trip to Bountiful"?
-
Stella you hit the jackpot!
It's your turn.
