Even though the facts may have been twisted a bit it is still an entertaining film with powerful performances by Spencer Tracy and Fredric March.
It is difficult though to imagine that the people of Dayton TN were actually open and hospitable with such subject matter at that time in history.

Bansi/Mongo? What a handle. Actually there was a time I was just Mongo until TCM changed things around when logging on the boards. When I first started I chose some neat screen names which all were rejected (already taken although I've never seen them appear here). At the time I was watching "Blazing Saddles" and was so frustrated I chose the name "Mongo" after a character in the film and lo-and-behold TCM accepted that screen name. I almost fell off my chair. Me Mongo although I pop up as Bansi.
Go figure.

Just watched a little gem on the Fox Movie Channel titled "Come to the Stable" with Loretta Young and Celeste Holm. It's a holiday charmer with a wonderful performance by Elsa Lanchester.
