  3. Actually next to each of the 50 films listed there is what they call a Kleenex moment.

Sample: "The Yearling" (Jody accepts the responsibility of shooting the fawn he has named Flag, losing not only a loved one but also a big, fat chunk of his innocence).

So actually there are only certain moments in the films that were chosen to be considered tear jerkers?

I can't believe they didn't list "Penny Serenade" and "Beaches" among others.

Of course I meant the sweet and talented Eleanor Powell who was a top dancer. I was still groggy this morning when I posted.

At 81 the fine actress Eleanor Parker is very much alive and very much revered.

  8. Thanks again Classicsfan. I'm glad you enjoy the thread.

    Addition:

In all fairness to actor Rod La Rocque who is mentioned below as a "stud" in his films was actually a superstar in his almost 100 films.

The 6'3" actor was married to silent screen star Vilma Banky for 42 years a feat in itself in Hollywood.

His leading ladies included Stanwyck, Crawford, Gish, Shearer, del Rio etc.

Also was in "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" with Laughton and "Meet John Doe" with Cooper. He left the screen in 1941.

Also known as Rodney he was the matinee idol of the silents of the Roaring Twenties as well as talkies.

Happy Birthday to you Mr. La Rocque.
