I just wanted to say "welcome", BoB, and we hope you'll visit this trail often!

Wow, Kim those are great!! I love the animated files, they're so cute! Good work.

Hi Theresa! The board seems a lot quieter than it was when I logged on last Tuesday after a long weekend. We've missed you---I posted a couple of pix of Greer over in "Hot Topics---Post Pix of Your Favorite Stars".

They only > had two films together, For Whom the Bell Tolls and > Saratoga Trunk. I watch these films all the time. > They were made for each other. Welcome, Marnello! I love Saratoga Trunk to pieces---it's such a fun movie and I think Coop and Ingrid are very good together, even better than in FWTBT.

Really? LOL He sure was a great actor, then!

Thank you, Mongo, for that informative posting on cutie-pie Dennis Morgan! I've always been curious---given all the "Irishy" roles he played, were his family really of Irish descent? Beautiful pix, too!

>>>>I did forget to mention one of the small little touches in Man of the West that I really liked. It's an unimportant piece of the film but it really grabbed me. It's the scene when Link is leaving the ghost town (I forget the name of it) and he runs into the Mexican male. Link says, "he's sorry," and trots off. The man proceeds to enter the building calling out for his wife, "Juanita? Juanita?" Of course, she's been killed. Anthony Mann never shows us the man finding his wife, we only hear him off screen while we see Link ride off in the distance. Very powerful.>>>> I don't believe I have commented before about this scene here, either. It always takes me by surprise, perhaps it's because it happens so deep into the film. I practically jump out of my skin every time I see Royal Dano (one of my favorite character actors, by the way) shoot that poor woman, and then to hear her husband come calling for her. To give credit where it's due, the performers were Joe Dominguez and Tina Menard. I'm not sure I am altogether happy about that scene being included at all, it seems just too much. It's too much for me, anyway, and this is where I part company with Mann on the subject of violent scenes and appreciate, vastly, John Ford's restraint. >>>>By the way, when I went back 80-plus pages to find the words you wrote about Man of the West, I was once again treated to those wonderful Fountainhead photos you had posted. That made the search worth it. Thanks again for all the beautiful photos you post on this board. <<<<< My pleasure---and how flattering you would travel back so far for one of my silly old posts! I seldom find any new pix on Gary anymore, Kim and Angie are better at that by far. Just when I think I've seen them all and there can't possibly be any more, they dig them up somewhere!

Yes, Natalie left a void in many people's hearts. At least we have her movies to enjoy---once more of them come to dvd!
-
Hmmmm....interesting to know about champagne baths...I think I'll stick to goat's milk and use the champagne to rinse my hair.

> miss Goddess, I own Lana Wood`s biography of her > sister and also Gavin Lambert`s bio "Natalie Wood A > Life". I ordered Lana's biography so I should have it to read next week. Can't wait!
-
You must have read my mind---we both posted pix of her as a child!
-
I think the one with Claudette is adorable; she was such a cute little pixie...
-
[nobr]I thought we ought to have at least one of her as a tiny tot:[/nobr] [nobr] [/nobr]

Thank you for those pictures, FG! I love the one in yellow---yellow and orange are my favorite colors and I think they look smashing on brunettes like Natalie.
-
I really like Magic Town, too, and would like to see it resurface.
-
I never heard of that story with Bette, but I knew there were lots of instances where her fear of water had to be confronted in the course of her career. Poor thing. I really want to get Lana Wood's biography of her sister.

Hi, VF! You and Cashette really make me want to see The Cracker Factory....hmmm, I may have to pay a "visit" to Netflix....I hope it's on dvd. The only made-for-tv movie I saw with Nat was a rather ho-hum one she did with Robert Wagner called "The Affair". I have that on on dvd. She does sing a song in it, but oh, boy, someone convinced her to cut off her beautiful hair into a most unflattering style and I still have problems with it! lol! The movie isn't directed very smoothly, either. Which is a pity, it's the only time they paired up on screen since their younger days (I believe, unless I've missed something). I'll be posting even more pix later, I just didn't want to overwhelm everyone all at once!

OK then yes I have seen Our Very Own---that was a very moving film now that I remember. I would like to have that one recorded, if TCM can show it again.
-
That is a disappointment! I hope it's only been postponed so they can add more extras or do more restoration, if needed. I can't think why it would be shelved altogether.
-
Fury is my favorite Fritz Lang film, and one of Spencer Tracy's greatest performances---it's a powerful film. I really am in the minority liking Night Unto Night. In fact, it's my favorite Ronald Reagan film, along with King's Row. I'm not really a fan but I thought he was passable in the role. It's a very unusual, off beat love story and I guess that's why it appeals to me. I think it was interesting to see Broderick Crawford get to do something else besides playing a loud mouth, hee!
-
Oh, I hope TCM can get it---I haven't seen it since I was a kid and it was on AMC---it's the first Gary Cooper I ever saw! I don't remember too much about it, except it was directed by Leo McCarey, who I really like.

[nobr]Looooorve the sepia pix!!! Here is another cute one from the set of Now and Forever:[/nobr] [nobr] [/nobr]

You are sharp, I didn't remember Beryl Mercer was the Queen. I haven't seen A Little Princess in ages, but it's by far my favorite version (I disliked the 1990s remake). Sybil Jason, who plays the little cockney maid, posts often in one of the other classic movie forums in which I participate. She's written a couple of books about her Hollywood experiences, and she's still very close to Shirley. I can't remember if she said whether or not she ever met Gary---I'll have to ask her about that the next chance I get.

I love your list, Cashette, and it includes a couple I've never seen: The Blue Veil, Our Very Own (this one sounds familiar) and The Cracker Factory. These are my tippy top favorits: Love with the Proper Stranger Kings Go Forth (I love the pairing of Sinatra and Natalie--I wish they'd done more movies together!) Cash McCall (this movie is James Garner-heaven, he's so gorgeous in it! And so is Natalie, wearing some beautiful outfits designed for her) Marjorie Morningstar (I bought the vhs of this movie because I just had to have it---it would be worth of incluing in any NW box set. Gene Kelly was really good and believable, and I like Carolyn Jones' character, her best friend) This Property is Condemned (but it's so sad---I hate the ending!) The Ghose and Mrs. Muir Tomorrow is Forever The Star
