>>>...you wish you were born 80 years earlier. <<<
Sometimes I really feel that way.

Fury is my favorite Fritz Lang film, and one of Spencer Tracy's greatest performances---it's a powerful film.
I really am in the minority liking Night Unto Night. In fact, it's my favorite Ronald Reagan film, along with King's Row. I'm not really a fan but I thought he was passable in the role. It's a very unusual, off beat love story and I guess that's why it appeals to me. I think it was interesting to see Broderick Crawford get to do something else besides playing a loud mouth, hee!

Oh, I hope TCM can get it---I haven't seen it since I was a kid and it was on AMC---it's the first Gary Cooper I ever saw! I don't remember too much about it, except it was directed by Leo McCarey, who I really like.

You are sharp, I didn't remember Beryl Mercer was the Queen. I haven't seen A Little Princess in ages, but it's by far my favorite version (I disliked the 1990s remake). Sybil Jason, who plays the little cockney maid, posts often in one of the other classic movie forums in which I participate. She's written a couple of books about her Hollywood experiences, and she's still very close to Shirley. I can't remember if she said whether or not she ever met Gary---I'll have to ask her about that the next chance I get.

I love your list, Cashette, and it includes a couple I've never seen: The Blue Veil, Our Very Own (this one sounds familiar) and The Cracker Factory.
These are my tippy top favorits:
Love with the Proper Stranger
Kings Go Forth (I love the pairing of Sinatra and Natalie--I wish they'd done more movies together!)
Cash McCall (this movie is James Garner-heaven, he's so gorgeous in it! And so is Natalie, wearing some beautiful outfits designed for her)
Marjorie Morningstar (I bought the vhs of this movie because I just had to have it---it would be worth of incluing in any NW box set. Gene Kelly was really good and believable, and I like Carolyn Jones' character, her best friend)
This Property is Condemned (but it's so sad---I hate the ending!)
The Ghose and Mrs. Muir
Tomorrow is Forever
The Star

I think maybe Shirl's movies are colorized because the marketers were fearful children would refuse to watch any black and white movies. I haven't seen Now and Forever in...forever...because I remember the ending was so sad. However, it's one of my favorite ST movies, along with Wee Willie Winkie.
The Lombard/Cooper movie I am dying to see is I Take This Woman. It's probably the one unseen Gary Cooper movie I am most anxious about, since I am a big Carole Lombard fan, too.

That is simply observing one of the first rules of interior decor: surround yourself with beauty.

I'm the same way; it's like everyone is in the same theater "audience".

PS---You were not far off in thinking about Carole Lombard---she did a movie way back in 1930 called I Take This Woman with Gary Cooper, a movie which The Cowboy and The Lady was based upon. However, this film is hard to find and never shown on TCM.

I think Chris is right, it sounds like Never A Dull Moment, which TCM airs on occasion.

[nobr]Love her outfit!!!!![/nobr]

[nobr]If you look closely, Nat is wearing a bracelet to disguise the fact that due to a childhood accident, her wrist developed a slight protrusion and in all her movies and pictures she would try to disguise it with jewelry and clothing.[/nobr]

Hi KJ Angel---yes, Natalie was cut off in her prime. I have visited the graves of only two Hollywood figures, Natalie's and Marilyn's (they are both in the same cemetary). I left a rose for each.
I really do hope that a nice selection of her films will be released one day on dvd, either individually or in a suitable box set. We still do not have one of her best, her Oscar-nominated Love With the Proper Stranger and it scarcely ever gets played on TV, either. It's my favorite of all her films. I even like Steve McQueen in it, because for once he can't help but be softened up by her vulnerability.
And I include her child performance among my favorites, too---she and Hayley Mills are my favorite child stars. The little refugee she played in Tomorrow is Forever was just too touching, and of course she was little "Anna" in The Ghost and Mrs. Muir.

That is a disappointment! I hope it's only been postponed so they can add more extras or do more restoration, if needed. I can't think why it would be shelved altogether.
