  1. In other words let's not improve the format with Message Boarders participating and continue to see crap selected by Penn & Teller's pick of Orson Welles "F for Fake". If the Wright Brothers didn't try something different we would still be going cross country by train and by boat to Europe!
  2. I have seen many responses on threads that ask to list your five favorite films. Most are right on target and Osborne has a way to make his guest comfortable and brings out the best in them. I say if we can have a Rob ( Gorilla) Zombie we could have a regular Message Board user on the "Guest Programmer" slot !!
  3. James Cagney "1-2-3" ( 1961) to "Ragtime" (1981)? Thanks Gerb...NEVER MIND It was a good guess though! aftermath
  4. Who the hell selects these "Guest Programmers"? It's like freak city every show with the weirdest of film selections. Why not one of the regulars on the Message Boards be selected? It would make a hell of a lot of sense than the junk we've been seeing month after month! If it's Robert Osborne who selects them as he states in his promo's, he probably makes his list out while he's in an opium den!
  5. Katherine Hepburn was a free spirit! I believe those who don't like her envied her style of living. She was a confident composed individual who didn't take crap from anyone. She led her life as she chose and did not feel the need to defend any of her actions, but if wrong accepted the consequences. I admired her straight forwardness and her candid remarks that's what I call having self esteem. Katherine Hepburn a "Legend" and one of a kind! God Bless Her! Aftermath
  6. The Toast Of New York / Frances Farmer

By showing it to us on screen, we > > know who is lying throughout the rest of > the > > film. It was even harder for Kelly McGillis to perform in this movie as Jodie Fosters lawyer because I remember reading in an article she was "Date Raped" in real life. I remember when I was very young the movie "Love Me Or Leave Me" with James Cagney and Doris Day. There was a scene in that movie where Cagney threw Day on the bed and started to rape her. But in 1955, they suggested it as they faded out of that scene into the next one. Rape is one of the most hideous acts that a man can commit to a woman. And I bet there are more rapes that husbands force on their wives. The trouble is the justice system is too lenient to these bastards because they are married. That's not love, it's a crime! I am a father with a young daughter and sit on the edge of my seat till she gets home because I worry about what frequently happens unfortunately today. When I dated you "Made Out" and maybe took a quick feel of her butt after the 53rd date, and felt guilty about doing it! Certain movies send out a message today that if the guy doesn't score he is either a "Loser" or a "****". I detest these types of films and if I am in the movie theater watching this style of movie, my first inclination is to run up to the projection booth and tear the film to shreds. Whatever happened to movie like "The Tender Trap" "Tammy and the Doctor" "Lover Come Back" ( All the Doris Day & Rock Hudson Movies)? I think that the justice system stinks when it comes to prosecuting these bastards. It surprises me that more woman don't do what happened to that jerk John Wayne Bobbit who was a frequent guest on that other idiot Howard Stern's show. Our society has changed what use to be a heinous crime is now taken in stride. For anyone out there who has a daughter who has just started dating like me it's pure torture waiting for her to return to the safety of home. But Hollywood will continue to churn out these wretched movies and our jury system will treat the victim as the criminal because "The Way She Was Dressed ..She Was Asking For It" This stinks and something has got to be done. I'm sorry I have rambled but this is important to me and that's why I keep a bat by my doorway in the event my daughter has a story to tell me when she gets home. I'll take my Derek Jeter Louisville slugger and pay a cordial visit to the gentleman who just took advantage of my "Precious Jewel"! And that's one Dad's opinion and if you disagree with me you need professional help! Aftermath
  8. > jdb1 and I are Laurel & Hardy fans so we're with you > there. Jamie Lee Curtis was best in "A Fish Called > Wanda." Sorry! Kevin Kline stole "A Fish Called Wanda" and in my opinion Jamie Lee Curtis was an afterthought. Great to hear there are two other Laurel & Hardy Freaks on board I have "Pardon Us'..."Oliver The 8th"..."Their First Mistake"..."Busy Bodies"..."Dirty Work"...Be Big!..."The Night Owls"..."Perfect Day"..."Helpmates"..."The Music Box ( MY Favorite )..."The Live Ghost"..."County Hospital"..."Twice Too"..."The Fixxer-Uppers"..."Our Wife"..."Sons Of The Desert"..."Blotto"..."Towed In A Hole"..."Brats"..."Hog Wild"..."Man O' War"..."Murder Case"..."Scram!"..."One Good Turn"..."Beau Hunks"...."Going Bye Bye!"..."Them Thar Hills"..."**** For Tat"..."A Chump at Oxford"..."Laughing Gravy"..."Chickens Come Home"..."Block Heads"... 9. Jessica Lange was Hot in Tootsie and Gena Davis looked Smokin' while applying make-up and talking to Hoffman in the dressing room. Please don't be offended "High Noon" Stoneyburke I sense your reading this, and don't think I'm going "Over the Top" ( A horrible Sylvester Stallone Movie by the way) so please don't read between the lines as your one of my favorite posters!....... By the way I got my name "Aftermath" from my Favorite Rolling Stones ( Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, Bill Wyman and still living before drowning in his pool Brian Jones) Album! 10. Jack is that the one that reflects i.e. "The African Queen" 1,550 votes...Ranked 5th? I tried to stuff the ballot box like they did with Bush winning in his brother Governor Jeb Bush State Florida in 2000, against Gore by voting for it more than once and it came up saying "Your Vote was Previously Recorded".
  11. I prefer the British movie "A Night to Remember" because it was more factual and not full of sappy romance that involved Leo ( I liked him in "This Boys Life" with Robert DeNiro and Ellen Barkin Better). The newer version concentrated more on the love affair that was not factual but simply "Hollywood Fabrication". I must admit the special effects of the actual sinking were spectacular. By the way David McCallum was in a "Night To Remember" and he was famous as he starred in "The Great Escape" and also the popular TV series with Robert Vaughn "The Man From U.N.C.L.E......and Honor Blackman who was "**** Galore" ( Love that name!) in "Goldfinger" also starred in it! ............. Hey you edited out "****"? Maybe if I said PussyCat it will come up .... When Mia Farrow picked "Raging Bull" as one of her selections I heard the "F" word numerous times. They censor the boards but not the movies now? .....Real Stupid! TCM Web Administrator your a hypocrite and so is the Programmer for TCM. This does not make any sense to me. 12. What is this about voting for movies? Is it like voting a ballot like you do for the Baseball All-Star game? Whom do I contact at TCM to obtain these ballots? Forgive my ignorance but I've only come on board on September 25th, 2006! Please reply in the event there is an expiration date and I would rather vote for movies than the crooked politicians on November 7th, 2006!
  13. > He is > a prime example of why the art of today is crappy, > horrible and empty.....I feel like getting sick and > puking my guts out.....he is nasty...too bad when he > ran with those scissors they didn't stab him in the > heart and spare us his "talentless empty ugly knows > nothing about classicfilms" self.... And I got hell from a boarder when I made a tasteless comment about Rob Zombie Message was edited by: aftermath

  15. > aftermath, is it Barefoot in the Park? I > remember some snow coming down on poor Robert Redford > on the couch... And who was in the Bedroom? ( Remember 2 People) OK you got it it was Jane Fonda prior to her becoming "Hanoi Jane" Take your turn! Message was edited by: aftermath
  16. Goldie Hawn / There's A Girl in My Soup
  17. Although I was not in the service at the time, I remember Hanoi Jane in North Viet Nam posing for pictures and looking through the sights of an artillery gun that was used to shoot down American Aircraft and smiling. I still watch her movies but in the back of my mind remember that image of her and of calling prisoners of war being held in Hanoi " Warmongers" right to their face. They say "Forgive and Forget" but tell that to the wives, children, Mothers and Fathers of those killed or maimed in Viet Nam or with mental disorders as result of the horrors of that war and they will say to you "****"!!!
