I watch TCM more than anybody living and one thing that turns me off is the constant attention given to hepburn and bette davis.I believe the best actors and actresses on the classic movies where the CHARACTER ACTORS. The early movies these 2 famous ladies made, and i'm sorry if i hurt anybodies feelings here, but some of their performances in their early movies were laughable. The only way they could have acted was coming from filthy rich families that probably paid the film bosses off to get their foot in the door. The later movies they made were better and better as they matured and got better at their art,but struggle? i doubt it. Look at some of the character actors and actresses in a lot of old movies and they are the ones who carry the movie, without them they would be unwatchable.I would love to see some special movie days with these artists,a character artist day at the movies.

I remember this interview with groucho as being better than all of the marx brothers movies, but i also seem to remember there was more than one interview.I thought he was interviewed for 5 shows or am i confusing it with a Michael Douglas show? What was so amazing about Groucho live is that he never stopped, the one liners just rolled on and on,and some you can tell he was making up as her went along. The most entertaining person that ever was ina live show, except maybe for Henny Youngman who also never stopped with the one-liners,but that's another show.

I have to agree with Joe Pantoleone about The Best Years Of our Lives,it is the best movie ever made,if not,it's in the top 5.From the sound score that accompanies every scene,to the great cast and writing of all scenes,it shows the thought of war veterans and the country in 1946 without showing any war scenes.i think the country and world was so sick of war at this time they needed this movie to show regular people trying to go back into a society that was unforgiving to them at times.Unbelievable scenes from the nose of a B-17 shows the rows and rows of thousands of discarded fighters and bombers and radial engines still connected to the propellers, ready to be scrapped,a scene that has always stuck with me, showing how wasteful war can be,even when war was neccesary as this one was. This is a movie i always look for on TCM,i don't want to buy it because i may watch it too many times, and i love seeing it over any holidays, thanks Joe P.
