  1. I meant Dusty Springfield. I was thinking of the Bachrach box set of CD hits. Look Of Love, This Guys In Love With You, Close To You, Raindrops Keep Fallin On My Head. All by Bachrach in Alperts A & M studio. That sounds like Herbs horn with Dusty and Carpenters and ****.

Point is Connie Francis is an Essential of these woman singers.

  2. Anything of mine longer than a few words gets locked up in save forever. Tech Problems. I can post, log of computer, edit=add, post, log off computer, edit=add....If you look at others in Tech Problem section, I'm not The Lone Ranger. Until some Tech problems solved, I guess I'll be MR 1000 Edits.

  3. Scorses was suppose to do DINO with Tom Hanks, and luckily didn' t . This is another one he should forget. The Rat Pack movie was OK, but not really them, not really. Scorses is good at biography such as Dylan, Last Waltz. Maybe he should stick to old footage of the man himself.

  4. I would appreciate TCM Web Adm to answer why Tech Support never got back with me. When I enter POST, it goes to SAVE and locks up computer. This has been going on for over a year now. It appears others get no answers or response to their Tech Support E Mails . TCM Web Administator response would be apprecited to this year long problem and others problems. I can go on many other websites with no computer problems. TCM.com always locks up my computer. Why ??? Since I got no reponse in many EMails, is there a phone number for TCM.com Tech Support ???? I am typing in quick messages and posting fast and logging off my computer fast today. This is not a fun way to use TCM.com. Can we improve on this ? It goes without saying that such problems with TCM.com eliminate any chance to buy products. Since alot of us are getting locked up and locked out this much, certainly we can't purchase products then either. These quick mesgs only post if I hit PREVIEW, if thats any TECH help to you. Perhaps you could put an answer to this in the letter section of my control panel on this site

  6. Well, the music changed. Brit invasion but Vietnam and folk songs and heavy metal. Petula Clark, Cher, Supremes, Karen Carpenter were all very good. Girls Just Want To Have Fun and Love Shack are throwbacks to this era. I like the woman who sang The Look Of Love and had other hits. It sure sounds like Herb Alpert on that and Close To You. Scorsese used Walking In The Sand in Goodfellas. The Connie Francis era is something music keeps going back to. Disco had woman singers. Nothing against the all male rock bands, but like Walter Matthau, Sometimes I like to hear a voice higher than mine. ( It could well be Mr Alpert on these songs I mentioned, just as it is Chet Atkins on Everley Brothers alot )

  7. I have DJ'd my share of 50s and 60s music, and alot of women like the womens songs of this era, and for that she is an Essential. Some of her songs have pretty good guitar and rock as much as Brenda Lee or Leslie Gore. ' Lipstick On Your Collar ', has good guitar. ' Where The Boys Are ', is a very good full orchestra movie ballad.

  8. This is a great movie. In the book, the Indian doesn't know what is real or not real, or if any of this ever happens. Kirk Douglas wanted to be RP McMurphy, but son Michael Douglas went with Jack Nicholson and you can't say it was a bad choice. Jack nails this one. I'm looking forward to it, with my main focus on the Indian and McMurphy as in the book.

  9. African Queen has her and Bogey as very plain looking old maid and hermit, and thats what gets us, just like Marty. We root for them to be together against the troubles of the river. State of the Union is Kate and Spencer and one man selling out his soul and family for political gain, and it's still a strong movie.

  10. It's been awhile since my computer has been able to post. Just want to say I'm very glad this man got his Oscar. Alot of us on this site were for it a few years before it happened.

  11. Edward G Robinson MAKES the movie.......Babs is good but McMurray is good also...except for the play by play by Mc Murray and all the corney lines....Thats what cements it in old time good bye.....BUT.....Edward G.....Thats another story, just like Edward G with Steve McQueen years later. Edward G.....and without him this movie stinks, just alot of Babs and McMurray

    Edward G Riobinson, a classic...you bet

  12. First......John Wayne was never in the service in World War II. He could have been, but he wasn't. This caused him to be in fights with servicemen wondering why he wasn't in uniform. He did become big box office with stars like Gable, Fonda and Jimmy Stewart in the service. His widow says he felt guilty about it the rest of his life and thats why he may have became an ultra conservative patriot to make up for it because of his guilt. Well, thats what his widow claimed. Look it up in Google.

My dad who was in the service liked Mr Roberts and said it was the best. I remember he enjoyed The Caine Mutiny. ....My cousin who was in the service liked No Time For Seargents......My brother who was in the service liked The Last Detail and MASH.....and a Vietnam vet I know likes Good Morning Vietnam........and they all liked the films showing some of the nonsense of leadership they had to put up with.......Which brings me to KELLYS HEROS and my dad and brother laughed at this one. My dad liked Archie Bunker and Don Rickles and my brother thought Donald Sutherland was funny. ...and they get Clint Eastwood walking down that street as in his westerns only this time into a german tank with Tellly Savalas and Sutherland. I think Savalas and Eastwood are pretty funny in this also and the guy that was on McHales Navy, Mary Tyler Moore and Love Boat. On the heels of Patton, Carroll O'Conners Archie Bunker type general was perfect for this.

  13. This Oscar winning film with Voight and Hoffman doesn't get any TV air time and I always assumed it was the subject matter and movie rating at the time....but times change.

TCM already shows nudity and alot of curse words on Friday Nights Examples are " Willie Dynamite ", " Oh Jesus, Preacher Man" , and " Alices Restaurant ". Tonights ' Russia House " contains many words I can't print on here.

Midnight Cowboy mostly just suggests the nudity without showing it, where as these movies already shown on TCM have shown nudity. Therefore it's time TV lets us see the great acting by Jon Voight and Dustin Hoffman.
