I can't believe so many people liked Rob Zombie's "performance" on TCM's Underground premier Saturday Night. Zombie looked like one as he listlessly droned through his ten minutes of work. I'm also stunned that some people think Zombie "knows his stuff" about movies. The TCM people have researched that stuff for him, he just reads it off a teleprompter! Zombie had so little enthusiasm for his bits he looked like this was part of a sentence he'd received. "And Mr. Zombie, I sentence you to 200 hours of community service plus you have to host a new show on Turner Classic Movies.'
These movies stink too. But that's the fun of them. The really interesting part of the films is how they got made and made so badly. But it's difficult to sit through these stinkbombs. TCM should consider inserting an intermission with more movie info from the host (hopefully Rob Zombie's replacement). The engaging part of these films is looking for the obvious errors, waiting for the ridiculous dialogue you know is coming, and laughing at the chintzy special effects. TCM can do better! A better host and a mid-movie break with more special features would help.
