This movie really was something considering its age. Boris Karloff did a good job as the menacing hulking butler, a role that has recurred throughout the years, most notably Lurch. The scene with the young woman undressing was pretty risque. I actually enjoyed it! But the family itself really takes the cake. First a weird brother & sister. Then an ancient bedridden father. And finally the secret oldest son, Saul. Just hearing the name was eerie. You're right, shades of Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
