I read this thread and couldn't let the comments about HD not mattering for old movies
go by.
If you have seen a good transfer of an old B&W 40's movie (or earlier) in HD, you
would NOT say that.
If it was shot in 35mm film and the film is still in good shape, the film is still higher resolution than HD is. The detail and clarity of these old movies can be amazing.
Granted, some movies have not fared so well, but many are truly incredible, with all
the detail of newly produced HD content.
Check some out on UniversalHD or ShowtimeHD and you will be greatly impressed.
