Perhaps some good will come of this...hopefully it will be such a huge flop, that the careers of both "stars" will fade!

What about the Mayor and the Coroner in Munchkinland?!
-
THE FALL OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE with Alec Guinness as Marcus Aurelius and Christopher Plummer as Commodus, is an epic film on a grand scale, and without computer generated special effects. It is somewhat similar to GLADIATOR, involving many of the same historical figures, but with better actors portraying them!

Burl Ives is great in this movie(ENSIGN PULVER)! I think Walter Matthau plays the ships' doctor.

"In Harms Way" is another naval epic, then there's "Francis In The Navy" with Francis the talking mule, and "Anchors Away" with Martin and Lewis. Ha Ha Ha... James Dean has a small role in that one. I was in the navy myself, and the only film that approaches reality is "Mr. Roberts". That film captures the mind numbing boredom that accompanies being on a supply ship in the middle of the Pacific Ocean-which is how I spent my service. -

Another WWI film is "Devil Dogs Of The Air", with Pat O'brien. Not to mention,"Sgt. York". -
Two mules KIA in "Patton".

M*A*S*H* funny!? Did military men, even doctors, have long, shaggy hair in the early 1950's? M*A*S*H is about as funny as an Adam Sandler film-which means not at all! -
Thank you very much bansi!

AMC- America Movie Classics- I NEED EVERYONE'S HELP!

Just a few months ago AMC was showing the "Our Gang" comedies and "The Three Stooges", now they show "Predator". Nick Clooney now hosts programmes on the Goodlife TV network. Some of these programs are: "77 Sunset Strip" and "The F.B.I." with Efram Zimbalist Jr. They also show some interesting variety shows from the late 60's and early 70's with the Lennon sisters and Leslie Uggams. -
Marilyn Monroe! She couldn't act or sing. Tom Ewell is the star of The Seven Year Itch", any actress could have played Ms. Monroe's part. The same can be said for "Some Like It Hot", or "Niagara".

Is Patty McCormack the same girl who starred in "Kathy O" with Dan Duryea?
-
What about that evil little girl from "The Bad Seed"? One of the greatest endings in any film!
-
I have blocked AMC from my television.
-
I am going to watch "Beau Geste" with Gary Cooper and Ray Milland, although in my opinion, Brian Donlevey steals the film.

I think the praise for "Citizen Kane" has something to do with revolutionised camera angles, lighting et al. Also the films reputation may be bolstered by it's denigration of a character based on W.R. Hearst, certainly a man who is/was not liked by the mostly left-leaning entertainment industry. If Orsen Welles created a similar film based on the life of a Lenin like character, I suppose we wouldn't hear any mention of it by any critics?!

TCM voters; who are your all-time favorite movie comics?

I love the Woodman! In "Hannah And Her Sisters" he has some great lines, especially the one about Nietzche and the ice capades. "Radio Days" is greatly underappreciated and one of my favourite films. I also like the swing/jazz music he puts in many of his movies. -
I enjoyed watching James Caan's character getting his head crushed under a car tire.
-
"The Exorcist" is the only movie that truly frightens me. I have yet to see the re-released version. I used to find "The Omen" a scary film, but now it seems silly. By the way, my mother saw "The Exorcist" with my baby sister, as she could not find a baby-sitter. She said my sister slept through the whole movie!

"Sherlock Junior" and "Safety Last" starring Buster Keaton and Harold Lloyd respectively, are two of the most hilarious works on film. Even those who don't usually enjoy silent films will appreciate these. I also love W.C. Fields, especially in "The Bank Dick" and "It's A Gift" and Laurel and Hardy in "Sons Of The Desert". Peter Sellers in the Pink Panther films and almost everything else. Also Gene Wilder in "Blazing Saddles", "Young Frankenstein", and "Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory". -
I have been interested in the history of the ship since I saw "Titanic" with Barbara Stanwyck and Clifton Webb. Not much later the ship was discovered, and all the Titanic films were shown on television, including; "S.O.S. Titanic", and "A Night To Remember". I would be interested in seeing the 1940's era German version of the Titanic story. It was produced during the Third Reich, and contains a fictional German officer who is ,of course, the hero of the story.

Correction: Mr. Lightoller served as a commander during World War One.
-
Kenneth More's portrayal of Second Officer Lightoller was outstanding, especially when compared to the minimal development of that figure in Camerons' "Titanic". I also enjoy F. Murray Abraham as Antonio Salieri in "Amadeus" and Claude Rains as Captain Renault in "Casablanca".
-
I think Warren Williams may have played Perry Mason in the early 30's serial.
-
I really enjoy "The Thief of Baghdad" with Douglas Fairbanks, but I have been unable to find a copy with an organ score as opposed to an orchestral one.
