It was a straight crime drama with the unusual ending. Most of the movie was the hiring and planning of the theft, and after the robbery 1 by 1 all of the thieves were eliminated. It looked like E G Robinson was going to share the jewels with only the 1 remaining thief. When the last thief was arrested he had the diamond case of course it was empty and that's when the movie cut to the restaurant with EG Robinson and the bank employee.

It was definitely a two hour movie. Haven't seen it since about mid 1970's. Edward G Robinson was the teacher not Spencer Tracy. And I believe it was a young Robert Wagner.

If it helps any the ending is --the lady vice president of the bank was in on the job and stole the diamonds before the thieves. She met the teacher at a table outside of a restaurant with the diamonds in her purse and as they toasted each other on their success a crook on a motorcycle raced by and stole her purse. I'm looking for the name of a movie that had a young Robert Wagner and I think Spencer Tracy, I'm not certain on Tracy. It was about a school teacher who's classroom was across from a bank. He plotted for many years on how to rob it. He organized a group of thieves etc and after retiring he carried it out with an unusual ending. Any help? Thank you
