Then they must have changed the schedule, after I copied and pasted the entry below, which was from the monthly schedule.
Maybe the schedule from which you took that was one of those that had it backwards on what was letterboxed and what wasn't. If you recall, for a few months after the March "upgrade" the schedules were all mixed on that issue.
-
The July schedule that I have on my PC shows GUNMAN'S WALK as letterboxed.
-
I didn't watch LAWRENCE OF ARABIA as there are just so many times that I can see that one in a year and this year we reached that figure in March. I watched two of the features last night, but ROAD TO MOROCCO has been on a few times relatively recently so I didn't need to see that one again.
Oh - and MR SMITH GOES TO WASHINGTON is a particular favorite of mine, but I'm worn out on that one also.
Actually, I need nights where I'm driven to my DVDs or even to perhaps attacking that stack of dishes in the sink.
-
Oh, I didn't mean what I seem to have implied and if you inferred it that way then we've both been obtuse.

I just love squeezing "inferred" and "implied" into the same sentence.
Seriously, I'm less disappointed about missing some shorts that I can find on YouTube than I am about the whole business of not getting what was expected. Whenever I bring up an on-air snafu, it's not to be insulting, it's just that there do (as even tcmprogrmmr noted) seem to be more of late and my history with viewing TCM is so contrary to that.
If I bring it up, I do intend to be offering constructive criticism.
-
Kyle, I'm not going to get upset over the targeted post to which he/she responded. I'm pleased to see that we at least did get an explanation and I applaud tcmprogrmmr for doing so. I'm sure it wasn't a fun chore to have to 'fess up.

Only recorded tonight in order to carch the rare Popeye, Porky & Bugs cartoons that were described, discussed and then NOT shown!!
I noticed that someone attempted to start another thread on the subject and it was locked down with no reference that the subject bacame a side issue in this thread. Yes
I know, they don't like duplicate threads on a subject - except when the subject is Robert Osborne's absence.
Not that I'm complaining about the latter but I think the point of someone bringing up a subject such as the missing shorts in a separate thread was to hopefully get an answer. It really isn't fair to tease the sudience, not once but three separate times that I saw, and then provide something other than what was promised. This series is your big highlight of the month TCM and to "bait and switch" is beneath you. It's not unreasonable for someone to expect an explanation.

Sounds like THE BRIDE WORE BLACK

I checked our host - being the proper guest - and they don't seem to have it for sale. A search came up empty.
But you can get it at Amazon:

You can trust them with your credit card number.

Just realized something - in *Oklahoma*, you have Shirley Jones, several singing cowboys, and an Arab ( the peddlar, Eddie Albert) all in one movie.
And in Eddie Albert, you have the man who replaced Robert Preston on Broadway as Professor Hill.
Just as an FYI, Forrest Tucker and Bert Parks were the road company version. Ironically, when AUNTIE MAME was remade as the musical MAME, it was Preston who played the part that Tucker played originally.

Osborne could have added to the hyping of the film by mentioning his Private Screenings interview with Anthony Quinn. I really expected him to mention that Quinn had called it one of his own favorite performances if not the favorite, but I guess he let Shaheen have his head and got to the screening of the film ASAP.
Quinn was very supportive of the film in discussing it with Mr. Osborne, saying that he hoped that it would find discovery through a re-release.

No jokes about the amazing colossal man figure being erected also will be allowed.

Growing up in the seventies and eighties I often saw this cliche parodied: two lovers running in slow motion towards each other across a field. But what movie actually has that?
Why does ELVIRA MADIGAN come to mind? I haven't seen it in over 40 years, but somehow that comes to mind.
-
In the very opening of the film, while there is some narration providing the set-up, we see the Earth spinning - spinning in the wrong direction.
-
Ah me, I did give it a whirl, copied it just fine but when I tried to email it I was told that it had to be converted.
When you go to save it and the box shows up, at the bottom of the box should be a "save as type" drop-down menu. Make sure that you choose the "HTML only" option, usually it defaults to "web page complete."

Thanks clore for explaining how to do that...learn something new everyday here!

You're quite welcome.

You're welcome. I saw that film on a double-bill with THE ANDROMEDA STRAIN 40 years ago.

He was also "the bad guy" in a Randolph Scott western MAN IN THE SADDLE.
Knox was also a Nazi in THE TWO-HEADED SPY.

Aww, thank you Rick for the compliment. The resemblence was something I noticed many years ago when I saw O'Malley on an episode of MY THREE SONS that was during Frawley's tenure. For years in my house he was "the guy that looks like William Frawley,"

I could swear he did mention the "devil worshiper" part in his remarks before the movie, although I don't recall if he mentioned the snake and peacock parts.
Yes he did mention it, someone had to have mentioned it as I was on the lookout for it. The snake and the peacock - well, I'm not so sure about that. When you're worshipping the devil, does it really matter if you kiss his asp or not?

Hardly monumental roles, but the Canadian-born Knox did get to play our President again twice in the mid-60s. He was billed in CRACK IN THE MIRROR but his brief bit in YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE din't warrant it.

I just tried getting to a second page by hitting the "next" indicator. That was fruitless but if you click on the numarals, that will work. I just did that in the General Discussions forum.

Why is ANNA AND THE KING OF SIAM in the pack of musicals? Did Fox mean to package THE KING AND I instead?

Lookalikes?

Lee Kinsolving might be better known if his biggest role as the tragic Sammy Golden in THE DARK AT THE TOP OF THE STAIRS were in view. That's one title that I mentioned a few times to the old "Suggest a Movie" borad.
I'll always remember Andrew Prine as he once played Richard Kimble's brother on a first-season episode of THE FUGITIVE.
As Prine has aged, he's beginning to look like Robert Culp:
