  1. This movie is my all time favorite comedy. To see all the legends in it ( Tracy, Durante, Benny, Joe E. Brown, Ben Blue, Keaton, Knotts, Silvers, Hackett, Shawn, Caesar, Backus, Paul Ford, Winters, Berle etc.) brings back such great memories to me. I have seen this at least 100 times and still enjoy the frantic search for the "Big W"! Thank you TCM for showing this historic and priceless movie! You are the best! Bartlett
  2. What a shame! I remember him in Mel Brook's "High Anxiety" lifting the trunk snd suitcases...."I got it!...I got it!...I don't got it! Rest in peace Mr. Carey!
  3. > I have long despised Donald Trump and this only makes > me hate him more. He is an embodiment of everything > that is wrong with America. He is scum. I will second that, but I think you are being to kind to that pompous ****!( OK I'll use "Pompous Butt" and see if it gets censored) Message was edited by: Bartlett
  4. I'm kinda partial to " Love (Flower) Power" sung by Dick Shawn in Mel Brooks "The Producers". Bartlett
  5. I thought we weren't going to reply anymore....I might as well tell everybody to watch 1958's "Curse of the Demon" at 2 A.M. EST tonight starring Dana Andrews. Believe it or not it is an intelligent movie that I saw and highly recommend. You will not be disappointed and it is pre 1960! How about that! Bartlett
  6. > Lol, I think many mother-in-laws in the US are > "spitfires". I certainly had one. Her ancestors were > suppose to have been from Germany. > That?s > just my luck. Hey Fred, now I know why you hate Nazi's! LOL
  7. > I'll ask my wife and mother-in-law. One is a hot > tamale, the other used to be and is now a spitfire. Lucky Dan which one is which? LOL
  8. First Pete, than Repeat!! BOOOORRRINGGG!!! Am I stuck in a time warp??? I've heard of Dejavu but this is getting tiresome!! Please somebody sing Melancholy Baby!! Bartlett
  9. > That is an interesting development......... the > Rangers need all the help they can get! If that's the case in the name of God, please take back A-Rod from the Yankees!
  10. > Lol, that?s on public property. This is private > property. Pay for your own bandwidth if you want to > promote ken?s leftist propaganda. Sorry Fred, but I'm paying exactly what your paying to express your opinion..like it or not!
  11. I just posted it on the Happy Birthday Thread! ( Last years, but lz you don't have to add another year...your choice!) Happy Birthday!!!
  12. Lucky Dan, that graph just about sizes it up for the goings on of the 7 years of the George W. Presidency. His father and brother should have a larger portion of it located in the eye of Hurricane Katrina though with his mother asking when are the hurricane victims moving out of Texas. Also Dick Cheney should have a mounted humans head above a fireplace. LOL!
  13. > It's like the way people are being manipulated right > here and now to fall for ken?s leftist political > propaganda tricks, on a ?classic movie? message board. Sorry, Mr. Dobbs, but the Lee Harvey Oswald fairy tale is not only disputed by leftist but also by moderate Democrats and Republicans and by Conservatives also. This is an ongoing 43 year dispute that should be discussed even on a "Classic Movie" board! We are Americans and do have the right to assemble no matter what vehicle is used, and we have the right to express our opinions as stated in the Constitution. To do otherwise would be a suppression of our liberties. Bartlett
  14. > Say, based on your theory, what would be your estmate > of the number of people involved in the conspiracy? > Ten? Fifty? Hundreds? Seems implausible to me that so > many people could stay in cahoots for so many years > before one of them gave up the big secret - > intentionally or accidentally. Sort of reminds me of how many Japenese knew about Pearl Harbor and how many were involved with the development of the A bomb and kept it a secret doesn't it? Also the secret of what happened to Anastasia the Czar's daughter..Jimmy Hoffa...Judge Crater..Amelia Earhart etc. Bartlett
  15. I was 18 when all this happened ( JFK's assassination ). I remember it like it was yesterday. LBJ was a figure-head Vice-President who the Kennedy's did not trust and were forced to pick him as a VP in the anticipation that his name would help to carry a few Southern States in the 1960 elections. They used him more like a good will ambassador than a Vice-President. They sent him on meaningless junkets to India and Egypt. ( His claim to fame at the time was making friends with a camel driver who he brought over to the U.S. as his guest). He was never consulted or invited to meetings during the 1961 "Bay of Pigs" invasion of Cuba or the 1962's "Cuban Missile Crisis" . The teeth you mentioned were false as even Robert Kennedy mentioned during his campaign against Kenneth Keating for the New York Senator race, "LBJ has honored my brother (John) by following his Great Society programs to the letter". LBJ relied too much on his advisors and the military regarding the fiasco in Viet Nam. It may be a "mystery", but to me there is no "mystery" that Oswald was a "Patsy". ( What he said to a reporter in the Dallas police station). Bartlett
  16. stoneyburke, as Spencer Tracy said in "Inherit the Wind", I like the sponge should be afforded the right to think! If everybody believes what the government feeds us, we would all choke to death! Oswald was a "front man" who got caught in a twister he never saw coming!
  17. Sorry, but I think LBJ had a MAJOR role in the assassination. I saw a picture of him winking at one of his aides directly after taking the oath on the airplane at Dallas airport. As I said, he couldn't wait for the burial to remove ALL of JFK's personal possession's from the oval office on November 23, 1963. ( One day after the assassination). When he found out about it, Robert Kennedy was livid and confronted LBJ on his insensitivity. The Great Society plans were JFK's, he only followed what Kennedy laid out. The Viet Nam war was bigger than Johnson's ego, and his EGO could not handle the possibility of a landslide election against him. As you will read in some of my previous posts in different threads, I am not a Kennedy Brothers fan but this one stinks to the high heavens! As I have mentioned before Lyndon Baines Johnson was a "BIG TEXAS HEARTLESS BASTARD". Bartlett
  18. Clint Howard? ( Ron's Brother)
  19. > What a strange thread for a classic movie forum. > > I won't get into the JFK stuff except to say the > Oswald "lone gunman" theory is a little TOO pat for > my tastes. > > As for the original post. I think that would make for > a great dark comedy in the vein of DR. STRANGELOVE. > If only Kubrick and Sellers were alive today. This all started when I said I saw "Seven Days in May" and that it held up after all these years. As in life we get side tracked and go into a different avenue of talk. Please allow us this moment of banter. Thank You!

  21. > Bartlett, aren't you glad TCM got rid of > Haskell? > > I am! Yes, now they should be working on the other "undesirables". Bartlett
