My friend was a projectionist and he showed me a trick that most projectionist used to know when the reel was almost completed. They would slide in a Half Dollar piece towards the end of the reel. When they heard it drop on the floor they knew they had about a minute to get the next reel ready. Simple but quite effective! He always bragged that he never missed a beat with that "system'.

Did anyone ever see "Paths of Glory" with Kirk Douglas? At the end a bunch of French soldiers are being entertained by a young German Woman forced to sing in a tavern. At first they are mocking and laughing at her. They turn when she begins singing a song ( German I think) in a sweet and innocent voice. Their attitude change and they begin to sing along with her and some even start to cry. It is quite a moment and stays with you.

> I know, that's ridiculous showing films twice in a > row, I don't want to see anything twice in a row, no > matter how much I love it. In New York we had on Channel 9 "The Million Dollar Movie" back in the 50's. They would show the same movie every night during the week at 7:30, and three times on Saturday. Each time "King Kong" was on I would watch it 8 times each week. Things haven't changed much in over 50 years, the other day I watched "King Kong" four straight times. Maybe I'm trying to relive my youth but I really think I love to watch "King Kong"! -
What films do you think TCM does not show enough?

Is" Gone with the Wind "an anti - war film ?
Bartlett replied to ken123's topic in General Discussions
Ken I think the movie dealt with the South's viewpoint ( And History also) of their right to have slaves was in jeopardy by the North's attitude for their freedom. To this day there were more Americans killed during the four years or so battles of the Civil War than any other War we were involved in.
