Bartlett replied to a topic in General Discussions
I nominate Jackie Gleason in 1962's "Gigot" as the most lovable character. -
Carol Channing?

I didn't say I was a fan of Ms. Smith. If you didn't want to hear an answer than why did you ask a question about "What does this have to do with movies?" My reply simply indicated because she was in a movie. You came back with a sarcastic remark and I reciprocated! Harold Russell had one major role in "The Best Years of Our Lives" and won the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award. Like Smith he made only a few more movies after that. I am not comparing the talent of the two, but I'm sure you would not ask "What does this have to do with movies" if Mr. Russell's name came on a thread. Bartlett

Andy Devine?? Bartlett

OK jdb1 this question does not concern a first run movie. What actress was made an honorary "Green Beret" and laid to rest at Fort Bragg, the "Green Beret" base? Bartlett
-
OK one last try...Peter O'Toole/ Jodie Whittaker / Leslie Phillips / Vanessa Redgrave in "Venus"? Bartlett

> Good one, Barlett. Has Hackman been a SAG and Tony > nominee? Don't know....However he did win an award for his role in "Unforgiven", his name popped up when I read the clues to his roles in movies. He is the only one who I could think of !

Gene Hackman? 1.- Was in Santa Claus costume when he chased crook and caught him in a vacant lot as "Popeye Doyle"in "The French Connection" 2.- Was prisoner "Red" - in movie "Riot" 3.- Was lawyer in picture "Class Action"

I enjoy movies made in the present. You don't have that many fingers to count the times I've stated on board that "Cinderella Man" made in 2005 with Russell Crowe is truly a "Classic Movie". Please don't include me when you observe that people hate "Starman" because it was not made in the 30's. You don't know anything about my likes and dislikes. To repeat "Starman" is dribble and IS NOT a "Classic". That is MY opinion! Bartlett

In the hope of seeing smoke and praying that a fire does not ensue, I will give "relax" another chance and have notified other posters on the "censorship" thread in "General Discussions", that I am giving "relax" the benefit of the doubt for now. Another Board Member on the "I Confess I Confess..Stop the torture" thread started by "relax" in "General Discussions", told me "relax's post" in his opinion hasn't started any fires. I must rely on one's observation that has not been directly involved in these discussions. Therfore, I will give "relax" the benefit of the doubt for now. We "Oldtimers" are noted for our patience. However I will not tolerate any future insults hurled at me and watch with great care what transpires in future discussions. Message was edited by: Bartlett

Sorry No! Clue # 2. - A Muderous Shootout

I was only answering your question "What does this have to do with movies". I tried to convey that Ms. Smith WAS in a major movie. Your reply was snarky and I reciprocated. Thank you very much! Also you must stay after school as it is spelt "APPROPRIATE", you know WITH an "R". Bartlett

I withdraw my comments to relax with the hope that peace will be established and good will replace arguements on future threads. Bartlett

> And this has what to do with movies? She did costar with Leslie Nielsen in " Naked Gun 33 1/3 The Final Insult " in 1994.

It was just a question of when, those who live by the sword die by the sword. I never saw her "Straight". She always reminded me of Courtney Loves reckless life style. Tragic indeed!

> Umm, one little problem. Saskatchewan is actually > one of the flattest, and least interesting provinces > you are ever likely to see. It doesn't have > spectacular mountain ranges, it doesn't even have > spectacular anthills. Is that you Rex Reed? Thanks for letting me know I made the wrong choice. From now on I'll consult with you before I make any kind of choices. It must be nice having all the correct answers, what a responsibility. Could you indulge me when I choose "Saskatchewan" as my choice or else Alan Ladd and I will put a cork in your mouth and bury you with just your head showing in one of those Saskatchewan ant hills you seem to be an expert about. Like it or not it is still my pick! Thank you very much!
