  1. *Dorothy Lamour* -- *Big* *Bigger* *Biggest*
  2. mongo - the first to come to my head - Dodd Darin, son of Sandra Dee and Bobby Darin?
  3. This song is on in the background when the two desperadoes are in the hotel in Mexico. A man is singing it and it has, to me, a very pretty melody. Thanks in advance.
  4. > {quote:title=cinemafan wrote:}{quote} > Renee, please respond to our inquiries in the Code of Conduct thread. Please let us know that you are still on board, literally and figuratively. Even if it's just to delete this thread. Admin, as far as I could tell, was on all of 20 minutes last night. Apparently you and your team have many duties, but I feel we have been abandoned in our communication regarding the updating of the Code of Conduct. I don't have time to sound polished this morning, I have to go to work. But please let us hear from you. > > Respectfully, cinemafan Have there been staff changes?
  5. Maven - I had only seen bits and pieces of *The Searchers* until fairly recently. There's still time.
  6. It is on because it is part of the evening of programming called *"20th Anniversary of Milestone Films".* This article from TCM explains it. Here is the link - http://www.tcm.com/thismonth/article/?cid=309486&mainArticleId=309485 _"Milestone Films Introduction_ _Dennis Doros and Amy Heller started Milestone Films in 1990 and dedicated themselves to discovering and distributing films of enduring artistry from both yesterday and today - films that they loved and wanted to share. Their collection now ranges from the earliest days of the cinema, to the golden age of the silents, to the postwar foreign film renaissance, to brand-new American independent features, documentaries and foreign films._ _Some of the films that they have had the privilege of distributing are by such masters of cinema as Alfred Hitchcock, Hiroshi Teshigahara, Luchino Visconti, Pier Paolo Pasolini, F.W. Murnau, Orson Welles, and Luis Bunuel. Others are the work of some of the best directors working today, including Takeshi Kitano, Jane Campion, Hirokazu Kore-eda, Alan Berliner and Philip Haas._ _This 20th anniversary salute to their film distribution company includes some of their most popular and personal favorites such as the groundbreaking documentary Word is Out: Stories of Some of Our Lives (1977) and the 1930 mystery The Bat Whispers."_ There are quite a variety of movies on that evening. Some may have already been shown on other channels, such as IFC.
  7. mongo, I know that only because I researched photos for a thread I contributed to. It's Louis Henry, son of Louis Jourdan and Berthe Fr?d?rique "Quique" Jourdan. (I love this thread, thank you for providing it)
  8. *Countess - Best wishes for your new hosting duties. I was laughing out loud at some of the entries last* *night.* *You guys are the best.* *Thanks for adding to the variety and flavor of the Boards.* *cinemafan*
  9. Amazing to me - how a whole story could be told on one page. And, fairly accurate, as far as I can tell.
  10. mongo, time for me to tell you how much I appreciate you. Maybe Charles Coburn is advising Marilyn - "Damn the torpedoes - full speed ahead!"
  11. movieman - I was always a procrastinator, and nothing's changed. I know why I wait til the last minute - it's too hard to decide! I just got through reading each and every schedule - we have such a talented, entertaining group here! Thanks to you for hosting and to everyone who participated. I bow to you all. I will be sending in my vote by midnight PST.
  12. Renee, please respond to our inquiries in the Code of Conduct thread. Please let us know that you are still on board, literally and figuratively. Even if it's just to delete this thread. It should be up within the week. If not, I will find out exactly when it should be back up. > > Thanks! > -Renee This was posted on May 18, 2010. One month ago, 4 weeks. Is this it? I was under the impression that we had some sort of dialogue going on here. I can't be the only one who has concerns about the current Code of Conduct. I don't have the time this morning to cut and paste the part that concerns me. In a nutshell, it prohibits using false information when registering on this site.
  14. Jeffrey Hunter, of course! He had, and I don't use this word often, soul - and a great, real smile.
  15. Dick Shawn had some great "big hair". *How about Betty Grable -*
  16. *Lana* Edited by: cinemafan on Jun 16, 2010 7:09 PM to add a photo
  17. JackF - I don't know how long your new Baldies we Love thread would last! But, then again............. John Derek was what I would call a pretty boy. He seemed to span the decades, reappearing as a photographer/director//filmmaker in the 1970s and 1980s, after marrying various beautiful women.
  18. SansFin - I'm not clear on what will happen in August after 38 years! However, thank you for explaining your user name. Now I know what it means - I may be showing my ignorance, but I thought it had something to do with Jacques Cousteau. (only joking, but I did not realize that it meant "without finish"). Some of us are not very worldly, I guess. (wink) If you change your name, just let us know. The problem with posters using multiple names or changing them is that usually deception is involved in the action. I like to know that the poster I am communicating with is a real person. I don't need to know their life story, just feel that sincerity is there to make the communication worthwhile. Thank you for your contributions here. cinemafan
  19. I just noticed an interesting thing while having *In Cold Blood* on in the background. Robert Blake is asking his partner if he remembered Bogie in *The Treasure of the Sierra Madre*, and then talked about going to Mexico to find gold. It struck me because Robert Blake was the little kid in *Treasure* that sold Fred C. Dobbs the winning lottery ticket. I just never noticed it before.

Surely, there is something you can tell us. Thank you, cinemafan
  22. Jack, this may be a repeat, but what the hay -
  23. butterscotch - So nice to meet up with you here. A young member of my family is graduating from high school next week and will be going to college in August. He is so done with high school, and will be ready to start a new life chapter (after summer, of course!). If you look around, you will see that people have come and gone, but there's still lots to see. Come by and visit more often - cinemafan
  24. "Got any smokes?" (this is the only new photo I could find!) for you, Mrs. Johnson - *Happy Birthday, Ben.* Butterscotch - fancy meeting you here. Hope school is going well.
  25. maven - just go easy on Glenn. (wink)
