Hey Filmlover - I'm not usually near a tv at this hour of the weekday, and I just caught your Fan Perspective from last year. It is timeless and your love of movies shines through.
A younger member of my family was here and I looked up and said - "Hey, I know that guy!" Then it got to the part where you talked about *Casablanca*, and this young person had me look up a picture of "Bogie sitting at the bar" for him. He told me that he was to meet a friend for dinner after his recent graduation, and found him sitting at the bar in just that pose.

Maven, Hope it's not too late for me to recommend *The Naked Spur*. Why? The cast (don't forget Ralph Meeker), and the psychological tension going on between James Stewart and Robert Ryan. And, the scenery is beautiful. I always wondered about the title and never watched it, until my brother recommended it. Here's a peek -

I saw Now Playing the Show for July, and Gregory Peck will be the star of the month (I'm pretty sure that's accurate) with many of his movies shown on Monday nights. I think they will also be showing the documentary MissG speaks of. I can never see too much of *Duel in the Sun*.

I didn't mean to cast a pall over your thread! No, he just watches the news and in particular, one station. He never was interested in sports, either. Just worked a lot and kept busy. I guess I'm trying to say this is part of the 24/7 news scene out there - where every little and big thing is a big deal, and there's no escape, unless you turn off the plug-in-drug. It can be depressing for retired people who don't get out as much, or live in a rural area.

Bronxie - I still get the newspaper, though it's getting thinner and thinner every day. I'm a reader and it's an old habit. My dad, who lives in your state, has never been a reader. Now it's hot and he's stuck in the house watching news all day. He was never a movie lover like I am, so he doesn't even have that to fill his world. I like my habits - they serve me well.

filmlover - funny, I was just thinking of how much movie stuff is in my head. I'll have to think of some examples, but I know that I am quite often dating myself among the younger people around me. Like your example, sometimes, it's an expression that says it all, like "okie dokie".

It looked that way to me too, especially towards the end, maybe because of the outside lighting..
I read a bit about the background of this story, and it made it more understandable when I read that the John Hurt character supposedly had an IQ of 70. As in today's times, truth is more often stranger than fiction.

MissG - I got to see Gilbert Roland the other night in *Underwater.* The focus was on Jane Russell, of course, but from what I could see, he was quite a dancer - dancing to Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White played by Perez Prado

It was on right after *Four Wives* and right before *One Reel Wonder - Miracle at Lourdes*. I think they had an extra 6 minutes or so to fill in right before 11am PST. But I was glad to see you. I still see Cinemaven's once in a while.
If anyone sees SueSue's and lzcutter's pieces, let us know whenever they start showing.
