  1. > *Cinemafan* - Thank you very much and I'm sorry - I hope I didn't give too much away.... I probably should have posted a general SPOILER on every one of my posts...... No problem, by now I know how to read between the lines. I've gotten to know some of the characters and have been enjoying the pictures.
  2. I have tried not to read too much, because I have yet to see it. But, I did do my part and request it to be shown. I would love to see it.
  3. To: the one and only Cinemaven, remember - I'm ok-You're ok! I read you loud and clear. From: the one and only Cinemafan *the real deal* Message was edited by: cinemafan to add a photo
  4. *I'm so glad that you added those edited comments. I was about to post an apology if I offended anyone. I just figured out how to post photos, so I am having a little fun. Watch out!*
  5. A good time to bring this back up. Now that I know how to post photos, you know the saying. A picture is worth a thousand words. My post count may rise rapidly. *Sean Connery as a lad.*

Literally. > > But try not to miss my personal favorite and the only Oscar-winner in the bunch: "THUNDERBALL.'{/b] > > Sean Connery... if I could kiss him, I would die happy. Cinemaven - this is for you, I know you appreciate a literate man.
  7. cinemaven, I'm ok - you're ok! Sean Connery and Ian Fleming Message was edited by: cinemafan to add a photo, thanks FredC.

  10. *My James Bond impressions*: I loved the music! That guitar was so distinctive - I checked it out and it's played by Vic Flick. The sound was kind of loose and twangy - you musical people know what I mean. Reminded me of surf music (a good thing). I got a little lost in the middle of the plot in "Russia". (Probably normal.) That was one heck of a fight on the train in "Russia". They were all over that car for what seemed like a long time. Not too long, though. I got to see two of my favorites - Robert Shaw and Pedro Armendariz in "Russia". Plus Lotte Lenya - yikes! How about those shoes! Sean Connery (who, of course, I am familiar with from other films) as James Bond is very, very charming and easy on the eyes. He has a wonderful smile. These movies are a testament to his acting skills - the variety of roles he has played. *Ham, filmlover, redriver, maven, lz, sc.* et al: I will make sure that I see all these Sean-Bond movies. But, I will probably stop at that. (Unless the others are shown on TCM someday!) The spy movies I am used to are of this type: "The Ipcress File"; "Game, Set, and Match" (PBS), "Reilly, Ace of Spies" (PBS) - more serious stuff. All in all, entertaining. I might not watch them again, but we'll see. I would like to have the music. I loved RO's introduction - "Osborne - Robert Osborne". He caught me by surprise. Then my brother phones me and starts off with "Bond - James Bond" - he's a big fan of both TCM and ond movies. I do know this, there's no way I could sit through these on any other tv channel - I'm ready for next week.
  11. Thanks, everyone. I had it in mind to see them in the order made, and it looks like that is what TCM is doing.
  12. I have never seen a James Bond movie. Really. Now that I have my chance, which one or two should I not miss? Those who know, please let me know. Thanks.
  13. mongo, for the life of me, I couldn't figure out whether this dog was facing backwards or forwards! > {quote:title=mongo wrote:}{quote} > > Joan Crawford giving her poodle a treat >
  14. patful, I'm not familiar with "Two Trolls" but one is enough, thank you very much. Speaking of horror, I watched "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" again last night and I believe that Fredric March gave the scariest portrayal. I've seen John Barrymore and Spencer Tracy, and they're great, but Fredric March had that special animal-like horribleness. Miriam Hopkins also gave a great performance. I was as frightened as her character was. Now that I have a little more time to read, I'm off to the library to get the book.
  15. You are so wise! I do believe that is what I did - made some old-fashioned paragraph-like indentations at the beginning of each segment. Next time, I will just have to remember to skip a line instead. Many thanks.
  16. IMDB states that the location of the outlaw cabin in "True Grit" is Hot Creek, CA. According to the same source, "North to Alaska" was filmed in Yukon, Canada; and various places in California, but not Hot Creek.
  17. mongo joe, the photo of Tony Curtis and his mother reminded me of when I heard him say that he based *Josephine* in "Some Like It Hot" on his mom and Grace Kelly. Check out that mouth.
  18. I sent a private message (PM) yesterday to several members. Only the first part of it was sent. Are the pm's being monitored and/or being edited? My saved copy only shows part of my message. Thank you for your response. (I also could not log on for several days last week),
  19. Frank, It is frustrating to have all this input, PMs as requested to voice our concerns, and then to hear *NOTHING*. If anyone can give me any hope, let me know. To put this in movie terms -(this could be another thread) *I am mad as hell* and I'm not going to take it anymore! Also, I feel like we are being *Gaslighted* right and left. *And pay no attention to that troll behind the curtain* .

Just before I logged on, I noticed there was an "Admin" logged on. That means someone must be observing. *ADMIN - PLEASE COMMUNICATE WITH US.*

  23. As I recall it, from seeing it about a year ago, Mickey Rooney was intense, but not out of control. I got the feeling he felt like he had been shown absolutely no respect, in front of others, from that particular director. Mickey Rooney comes across as being one truly sincere guy.
