  1. because: it has lots of good info, it took me a long time to find it on page 124 and it is because of this thread that I made time to watch Queen Bee this time around. Please work this time.
  2. TCM: PLEASE BRING BACK PREVIEW! because: 1. it has lots of good info. 2. it took me a while to find it manually, on page 124. 3. it was because of this thread that I took the time to watch Queen Bee this time around.
  3. I am bringing this particular thread back up, the good, the bad and the ugly because: 1. it has lots of great info. 2. I spent lot of time searching for it manually because it would not come up otherwise. I found it on page 124. 3. it is because of this thread that I actually took the time to watch Queen Bee this time around. Message was edited by: cinemafan
  4. Mongo, another big thanks for these spotlights. I don't miss a one. Everytime i read one I want to post a thanks, but that would be a little much. So, THANKS! re: your latest; amazing how a moustache can change a man's looks. What an option for you guys! cinemafan Message was edited by: cinemafan, because a sentence was left out TCM-please bring back preview!! Message was edited by: cinemafan
  5. Can anyone locate and bring up the Queen Bee thread that was here during (I believe) Joan Crawford month? I can't find it!! Thanks.
  6. While double tasking, I'm more listening to than watching In Harm's Way. It's been fun hearing voices that I recognize and then looking up to see if it's who I think it it is. Just now, it was Dana Andrews and now George Kennedy. Nice to see all these old timers and newer timers together. Message was edited by: cinemafan (to put in ')
  7. Jack: Thanks for that info. I was just able to edit successfully for the first time! and Patful: it made it clear that that was exactly what was causing the confusion noted in my original question. Thanks again.
  8. Sheesh, now I'm thoroughly confused. Of course, when I posted, the post I was referring to disappeared, and mine came up instead. Thanks, everybody. I hadn't even noticed that the one thread wasn't there anymore, so I wasn't referring to that. Was it yanked? I've seen threads locked, but never seen them eradicated before. A question about editing: if a post is edited after being posted, does it always say "edited" at the bottom? And does it stay where it was, or does it move to the top of the thread. Thanks.
  9. This is one I can't figure out. Today, I look on Forum Home, and under Technical Issues with the Message Boards, General Issues, there is a listing for the latest post at 9:26am on March 23. I go into that thread, and that particular listing is not there. The latest post listed there is from March 22. This has happened before, and it takes me a while to figure out that I am not going to find that latest listed post, because it is not there. Is there an explanation for this? Thanks.
  10. I'm curious as to where you got the information that Vincent D'Onofrio was "mentally unstable". I've never seen that information before.
  11. re: Funny Face I agree, the relationship was a little creepy, but that dance was great! When Stanley Donen was interviewed, he said that Audrey did not want to wear the white socks, she thought it was a fashion no no. He insisted, and she was very pleased with the results.
  12. I can't think of ten now, but I'll start with these two: Lonesome Polecat in 7 Brides (real subdued) and and in Funny Face, the one where Audrey is all in black with white socks, in the "beatnik cafe".
  13. I missed TCM's memorial tribute. Does anyone know if it is on the site? Are they still showing it? Thanks.
  14. I am a long time William Holden fan. A couple that haven't been mentioned: Rachel and the Stranger (with Loretta Young and my other favorite, Robert Mitchum), and The Bridges at Toko-Ri with Grace Kelly. Twister is correct, Holden did have a big drinking problem, from what I've read. In spite of that, he was always in great physical shape, which he took pride in.
  15. Dave, Thanks for a well written first post. It took me a little while to figure out your "IKWIG". Thanks to you, I did notice Petula Clark, and Wendy Hiller was wonderful. I'd never seen her in her youth. There is also another thread on this movie, which you by now have already noticed. Welcome!
  16. Thanks, Mongo, for your contributions in keeping these boards dignified, informative, and "real"!
  17. To all who have posted on this topic today: Usually I do not like spoilers, but in this case...Thanks! I now have added to my list of movies to avoid! I know that knowledge is power, but in this case, ignorance is bliss - for me.
  18. Just curious. What causes multiple postings? Such as a post being repeated one or more times? This has not happened to me, but lately, I have seen this quite a bit.
  19. I just did my part and requested this movie on "Suggest a Movie". I love these well made historical films and enjoyed watching "A Man for all Seasons" during Oscar month. Robert Shaw had a nice singing voice in that particular movie, which I never knew about.
  20. Although I use a computer at work during the week, I don't use it to check TCM (well, maybe once in a while to see what's on that evening). I usually log on in the early evening, around 6-7pm, and check out what's going on with the boards. I also have a weekend job, which means I pretty much have only one weekend off a month. So, you can figure out that my time is limited and that I'm kind of tired at night. Today, I was happy that when I got home and logged on, there were several new interesting threads to read, none of which seemed too long and drawn out. There was one in the last week which surprised me (and wore me out trying to follow it). It started in the late morning and by the time I got to it that evening, had 7 pages already! I had to double check the dates, not seeing how I could have missed this thread the day before. Bottom line: 1-1 1/2 hours each evening. mostly on TCM.
  21. This letter describes one of the many times during the Oscar show in which I want to crawl under my seat. A true "cringeable" moment. Thanks for sharing.
  22. What can I say? If I could have only one channel on my TV, (out of the thousands available), I would choose TCM.
  23. Thanks for posting those great photos!
  24. I would have to be blind not to have seen or noticed it, and be dead not to be annoyed by it and to realize that it is detrimental to the boards.
