Hey Fred, I guess you're referring to "The Last Command" which was on this morning. Having called in sick to work, I was able to see this. Believe it or not, I think it's the only movie I've seen Sterling Hayden in besides "Dr. Strangelove". What a contrast - I need to see what else is out there with him in it.
One reason I love movies - and this Board - I learn things. I had been unaware of "A Deguello". It was a big deal in the movie this morning. The second video you provided seems to have a few versions, including on that is very bare bones and seems to be a single trumpet playing.

Fred, I've got it on in the background because I've seen it lately, but it's made me notice how good the music is.

I am glad for your input and involvement in any improvements that can help this Board run more smoothly as it evolves. There are many counting on you. Thanks.

Hello everyone. I just noticed the Report Abuse button on the side of each post. Is that new? Does anyone have any info? If you click it, there are 10 choices/reasons to report abuse. They include Profanity, Harassment, Slander, Racial Abuse and IMPERSONATION!!
Also, I notice that TCM_Renee moved a thread from General Issues to General Discussions. That's the first time I've ever seen TCM-behind-the-scenes do that. I know they have locked threads, but not move them around.
I'm glad to see TCM taking a more active part in these Boards. cinemafan

TCM_ Renee - I didn't realize you worked for TCM. This is the first time I have seen a thread moved and am happy to see someone "caring" for this board. Maybe there can be less clutter with a little housekeeping here and there. cinemafan.

Thanks, hamradio. I'll put them up for grabs.

Sad news. "Are You Being Served" is a staple for me on my local PBS station's Britcoms on Saturday nights. I am not familiar with her later work, not having access to it, but maybe someday....just as I discovered "Being Served" many years after it was filmed. She was just the right mixture of guilelessness and "allure" for Miss Brahms. She was quite a team with Mrs. Slocombe.

I was serious about my rabbit ear antenna question. Are they still of any use with the new system? I want to give them away on my local freebie board. I could call Radio Shack, but I figured someone here would know.. Thanks.

Thanks for your posters, Kyle. At first glance, I thought that was Shelley Winters on the Gaslight poster!

> Hi, I've got two old Nikon news camera and a bunch of telephoto lenses, including my UFO-Scope, which I rigged up to shoot UFOs. I did that after I saw a big UFO about 12 years ago, and the buggers have been hiding from me ever since I rigged up the 400 mm lens with a 2 X tele extender.

> Being a retired professional photographer, and a normal person, I can't tell anyone about the UFO I saw until I can get a photo of it.
> The one I saw before that one, when I lived out in L.A., turned out to be the Goodyear blimp with a new color-light advertising board on it.

Fred - I saw that same blimp a couple of years ago. It was a foggy night and it was going right along side the car in the distance. Scared the heck out of us until we figured it out. Please tell more about your UFO sighting! You, I might believe.
Also, on topic - is there any use for rabbit ear antennas anymore? I still have a couple around.

mongo - a great series of clever tub photos!

A-girl - TCM will always have a place in my budget - it is a part of my life. It provides entertainment, education, and soothes and provides a journey elsewhere when I get home after going out and earning my living. If I ever had to relocate, I believe I would scout ahead and make sure that I could get TCM in my new community! I feel your pain!

This was another first for me. Thoroughly enjoyable - I have never seen Leslie Howard so alive. (Of course, I need to see more Leslie Howard movies.) I've only seen him in dramas. I love it when he tripped on the stairs towards the end. Wendy Hiller made me tune in -that was a treat in itself, but the bonus was the talent of Leslie Howard. Fun movie. It plays again on March 8.

I also took a look at the site. This caught my eye - *Uber TCM*. I like the sound of that!

mongo, thanks for honoring one of my favorites - Alan Bates. Gone way too soon.

What movie did Valentino don the gaucho hat?
"Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse" 1921. Search the TCM database for a photo. I'd post one if I were tech savvy. On the Silent Sunday Nights intro, there's a clip of Valentino wearing the hat and a very mesmerizing look.

Allow me to peek in for a comment on the Hat. I'm more of an appreciative listener and reader than a rambler. I've alway known the hat was unique, but now I've figured out where I've seen it before. On Rudolph Valentino!! It's a gaucho hat. I like it. I never could figure out what South American country they were supposed to be in.

Just getting a chance to comment on "Room at the Top". I've been a Laurence Harvey fan for a long time and this was a first for me. The movie was indeed, wrenching; it had my emotions going. I believe the accents were intended to be Northern England. I missed a bit of the dialogue myself, they were that thick.
Laurence Harvey is another one who died way too young, at 45. I would love to read a good biography of him. Sounds like he led an interesting life, being born in Lithuania, moving to South Africa, making his first movie in the early 40s and marrying Harry Cohn's widow, Joan. He was all over with the accents, from southern in "Summer and Smoke" to "Of Human Bondage".
I want a Laurence Harvey day!

The real "A Deg?ello?, battle of the Alamo

All this reminds me of the time I tried to find out what a rebel yell sounded like - I had heard the phrase "rebel yell" many times and wasn't sure what it was. It turned out to be a real scary, disconcerting sound, designed to scare the heck out of the soon to be attacked; the early Scots had a similar sound and also, American Indians.
