So you think "shaming" isn't negative-sounding?
-
You mean like "shaming"?

I don't see the purpose of the repeated whining about the "same old stuff" and then complaining when getting called out on it.

Any news regarding what TCM is showing on the 13th?

You must be in Mountain Time, because I'm in Eastern, and the schedule lists Ben-Hur as starting at 6:00 AM. -
The Long Arm (UK) became The Third Key in the US. The DVD I got off of Amazon has the US title on the box art, but the UK title in the actual print! (Either way, it's a good police procedural.)

Memorable One Shot Deals - Actors/Actresses Only Co-Starred Once

To be fair, Beth mentioned Rooster Cogburn, which lead sewhite to mention Hepburn's other co-stars. I'm guessing Hepburn ****ed off enough people that they didn't want to work with her again. -

Too bad Van Heflin isn't very romantic. As for Johnny Eager, it's good, but has too much of the MGM gloss. Van Heflin seems to be in a different and much better movie. -

That Man from Rio (1964). Jean-Paul Belmondo plays a French soldier on leave who visits his girlfriend (Françoise Dorléac), only for her to get kidnapped because she supposedly knows the location of a statuette her late anthropologist father dug up. Belmondo follows the kidnappers, which takes him to Brazil. Ben Mankiewicz called this one of the Bond spoofs with a bunch of other homages, but the one close homage I saw was to Hitchcock movies like The 39 Steps where the hero goes on a long journey to solve the mystery while trying to stay out of trouble. It's a physically gorgeous movie to watch, especially for the vintage shots of Brasilia, a planned city less than a decade old at the time. The brutalist, isolating architecture gives this section of the movie a dystopian feel reminiscent of Alphaville. The characters, however, I found a bit difficult to warm up to. 8/10.

Dead Ringer is a lot of fun. Well, except for Peter Lawford; I'm not much of a fan of him.

Bette Davis and Spencer Tracy in 20,000 Years in Sing Sing. I believe the only film James Stewart and Clark Gable were both in was Wife vs. Secretary, and they don't have any scenes together. -

It's not all alien stuff? You should see some of the stuff the "American Heroes" Channel (formerly the Military Channel, but apparently you can only be a hero is you're serving the interests of state violence) shows. I'm pretty certain I've seen "Mafia vs. ****" show up before. I'm not certain which ones were supposed to be the American heroes. -
Actors/Actresses who never acted on screen together

I think it would have been an interesting May-December romance movie between Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jean Harlow, but alas Jean died too young. -
Let me guess. You prefer Douglass Dumbrille anyway.

Kirk vs. Sirk. Which Douglas do you prefer?

Was Benny Hill bawdy in The Italian Job?

Stachka (1925). Sergei Eisenstein's first film, an archetype about a bunch of factory workers who go on strike. There's little plot and even less characterization here, but Eisenstein shows at this early age he has a very good grasp of camera techniques, and that does make the movie worth a watch. 7/10.

Hays and Breen would have had all sorts of problems with Maradona's telling reporters to suck it. -

I like how Rhapsody in Blue gives Gershwin a couple of love interests he didn't have in real life.
