I didn't watch this outro, but some of Letterman's other comments have clearly been tongue-in-cheek.

Grant was also good in 1932's Hot Saturday, although it's really Nancy Carroll who gets the hard edge at the end.

The problem with The Whip Hand is that after principal photography was completed, Howard Hughes (I think it was him) had the idea to make the bad guys be not Nazis, but Communists. They had to redo some scenes and add others which makes the thing a mess.
Big Jim McLain isn't as bad as it's made out to be; more like a sub-par episode of Hawaii Five-O. If Wayne had been portrayed as working for the Kefauver Commission investigating Mob influence in interstate commerce, I think the movie wouldn't have the reputation it does.

Strange Interlude was also parodied in the 1932 Fox movie Me and My Gal, in a scene where Spencer Tracy and Joan Bennett talked about having seen a movie called Strange Innertubes and then proceed to have that inner dialogue play out.

Yeah, the "mobile" version is now the desktop version, which is a bit small on my smartphone. Haven't tried it on the tablet yet.
(By the way, I typed this post on my smartphone to check the mobile version of the site.)

Given a choice, one would prefer not to have Google get all their information.
Having said that, I think there are browsers that use the same rendering engine as Chrome.
(I'm on Firefox on Linux and don't see the large icons any longer, either.)

To be fair though, if there are ten new posts, you're still going to have to scroll even if newest posts are first.
-
I was able to click on the icons and react to your post. Hitting the quote link also quoted it.
Change is hard.

I've always been curious what appeals so much to the early-first fans. I can see it maybe with a single post since it's more like email. But when there are multiple?
Because, in English, we read from left to right and top to bottom. You finish one post, and you just keep scrolling to get to the next one. And if a post is more than one screen long (say, in the Programming Challenge threads), you don't have to scroll all the way through it and then up to find the next thread.
Plus, assuming they don't change the number of posts per page in a thread that goes to multiple pages (I think the current default is 25 posts per page), then a post is always going to be on the same page in a given thread. In the "newest first" scheme, you post a reply and the previous last comment on Page 1 winds up on Page 2. Good luck trying to find it.
And if you were ever going to have threaded replies as some blogs do, then you'd have to have oldest first.

There's not a little plus sign below each post and the emojis that says "Quote" next to it?

The star is used in threads you've posted in.

Two builds ago they did have the option, although the default was newest comment first. I changed mine to oldest first, yet a bunch of people acted as though nobody had made that change, referring to the comment "below" theirs or what not.
And there's still the dot/star (depending on whether you've posted in the thread) that takes you to the first unread comment.
-
Most sites I know have oldest comments first. When they actually number the comments, this means it doesn't break referring to a comment: comment #43 in a post will always be #43, something that was incredibly irritating when the old forum software had newest comments first.
Seriously, this is the only board I know where everybody actually seems to like the idea of having newest comments first. Having constantly to scroll up and down when a comment takes up more than one screen, now that's an awkward method of navigation.

Over on the right side, the main board mentions who made the most recent post in each topic. If you click on the bit below the poster's name for how long ago the post was made, it will take you to the most recent comment.
Edit: The link will look something like this:
http://forums.tcm.com/topic/156731-update-sucks/?do=getLastComment
Also, to get a permalink for any individual comment, while you're in the thread, click on the indicator for how long ago the post was made in the individual comment. That should be at the top of the post right next to the poster's name. The URL for this comment of mine, for example, is:
http://forums.tcm.com/topic/156731-update-sucks/?do=findComment&comment=1598210

the games will be impossible...instead of click the topic, answer...you have to scroll to the last post
Why do you have to scroll to the last post? There's a dot/star to the left of each post that means "go to first unread reply".
Change is hard.

Let's see if the old way of using the img tag in square brackets works:

Yes it does! You can insert the images manually if they're already on the web by using:
{img}URL of image{/img}
but replacing those curly braces with the square brackets (the ones next to the P on a standard QWERTY keyboard).
Of course, some sites (like Photobucket) no longer allow third-party hot-linking.

No way for me to simply Quote your post (as we once could) But I agree wholeheartedly with your sentiments!

Clicking on the Quote link at the bottom of the post doesn't allow you to quote it?

Has anyone seen the printer-friendly monthly schedule yet?
http://www.tcm.com/schedule/monthly.html?tz=est&sdate=2017-10-18; change the last numbers based on what month you want to see. Obviously, the first for digits are the year, followed by the month, and then the date; I'd assume you can pick any day in the month and it will give you the monthly schedule.
It's not very printer-friendly, however. I copy it and then save it as a .txt (text) file.

However, I'm always surprised that people want newest posts on top. It's really tough to read when somebody writes a post that's more than one screen in length. You have to scroll down to read the whole thing, and then scroll back up to find the start of the next post. Irritating.

I too hate those ginormous icons. There also seems to be no way to let me edit my profile.
Edit: Apparently you can edit your profile; you just have to click on the very exact spot of the "Edit profile" button.

Marcel Ophüls was recently at the Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival in the Czech Republic, where he gave an interview to Radio Prague's English Service.
That site has a transcript, as well as the opportunity to stream the interview. There's also a MP3 download (4.9 MB, ~10 min) if you want to listen later.
