  1. TCM fans - please check out my tribute site to Joyce Compton, effervescent character actress often cast as the "dumbe blonde" in several classic films. Her most memorable role was that of ditsy showgirl Dixie Belle Lee in The Awful Truth. http://www.joycecompton.com She appeared in a ton of movies, often for only a couple of minutes (one of them, A Southern Yankee, was just broadcast on TCM this morning). Please visit and enjoy!
  2. One of my fave cult movies is one that TCM broadcast last February - "Smile" (1975) directed by Michael Ritchie. A terrific ensemble cast in a comedy about a teen beauty pageant held in Santa Rosa, California. Why this movie isn't better known is a mystery.
  3. Great topic! I tend to notice the same things, although it's more with props/furniture than sets. A good example is on the bonus material on the Singin' in the Rain DVD. In the section that shows old MGM musical numbers which inspired that movie, two of them - from Hollywood Review of 1929 and Broadway Melody of 1936 - use the same huge, silvery tree! Another time I noticed that Cabin in the Sky and Bathing Beauty (both 40s MGM musicals) used the same unique, round patchwork throw pillow on the set design. Strange, but true.
