Robert Schumann, his wife Clara, and Brahms love triangle
CoopsGal replied to Platotle's topic in Games and Trivia
I love "Song of Love" and I am in awe of Schumann's music. He was a brilliant composer -- as was Clara. Traumerei is one of my favorite classical songs ever written and that's thanks to my Latvian grandmother used to play it for me when I was young. I adore it still to this day... I find it very interesting that Brahm's was said to have many love affaires, felt very passionate about quite a few, but if he had ever married Clara, his relationship with her would remain platonic. Would he feel guilty as if, perhaps, he were going against his friendship with Robert who was mentally ill? I know movies can't honestly portray the raw details of their life in past, but I wonder how Brahm's truly felt for Clara, if his friendship with Robert had never existed. -

Please Reschedule No Sad Songs For Me (1950)
CoopsGal replied to pandorainmay's topic in General Discussions
I planned to tape it, but of course, my memory ran out on me again and I was left to watch the end credits. Thankfully it'll be showing again on January the 9th. -
A man with an eloquent, rich, and mellifluous voice; who fought with the British Army in World War I, and gave some of his most renowned performances to Hollywood in his 33 year span as the man, legend, and actor -- Ronald Colman.

I'm glad that I don't have to live on the same block with one of these narcissistic Christmo-terrorists. That's the holiday spirit, CineSage! Spread the cheer...

I honestly had no idea where to post this, but I thought it would be fun to share with everyone. A neighborhood lightshow: http://myspacetv.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=3837812 Cameraman's house: http://myspacetv.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=7085061

The theater where they are showing it is one where you can actually eat real food during the movie. Every row of seats has a thing like a bar running in front of it. Texas really is "like nothing you've ever experienced before" then isn't it? It's really neat but I don't think we better eat anything b/c we might choke on it - ha! But what a way to go out, huh? Choking on some great food...while watching Gary on the big screen. Message was not edited by: MrsCooper, because she got it right the first time.

Guess Frank isn't around...will I do? As a replacement, no; but I'd appreciate suggestions from anyone who's willing to share! Narrow Margin Nightmare Alley I Wake Up Screaming Somewhere in the Night Vicki Clash by Night Gun Crazy Hitchhiker Scarlet Street Basically Warner film noirs volumes 1-4 have a lot of great noir I've requested them from Netflix. Thanks so much, DS -
I think the three of you would have to find separate seats, it's the only way, lol. But together you'll be nudginig and giggling and having a grand time. I think it's great you can join them, Kim. And I can't wait to read the reviews the next day! lol, Oh, we'll first have in mind to sit together, but I know without a doubt that we'll be separated. And it'll be just like grade school! We'll be given report cards at the end of the film. "Disruptive, loud, out-spoken, makes obnoxious animal noises which distracts and annoys...needs to tame down those raging hormones." ...I can't wait!

Yes, Frank, I made this thread especially for you. Because as of right now...I'm in desperate need of a good noir film; any suggestions, oh great noir master?

This ONE SPECIFIC thread you speak of, is it in the Film Noir forum? It better be. It could be, if you so desired; but I was leaning more towards **cough** Gary Cooper **cough, cough** Speaking of noir forum, I'm going to send you a PM about an idea I had concering those stories... -
Chico is my absolute favorite Marx brother; his piano skills were incredible!

If another one of them offers you Texas tea while batting her puppy dog eyes at you, it's over. We only call upon Theresa if that torture treatment is absolutely neccessary.

Boredom took over and I **ahem** had no one to keep control over me in ONE SPECIFIC thread like I usually have at about, oh, 2 or 3 am. So because of your lack of presence...I have invaded everyone elses space univitedly. -

My list would read: Gary Cooper Ronald Colman Greer Garson Ginger Rogers Michael Landon Lucille Ball Charlie Chaplin George Raft Peter Lorre (I just want to hear him say, "Well hello...Miiiiss Kiiiiiim". He's so delightfully sinister!) Danny Kaye Patti Andrews Jimmy Stewart Teresa Wright -
I personally can't stand the man -- and I'm not sure why. I guess I'm just a Dino girl, myself.

"Make" and "succumb," huh? Poor DSClassic, he doesn't even know what he's walked into yet. You gals better watch it, though, because DSClassic is not shy about speaking his mind and I know you Coop gals become peep quiet when someone speaks out against Coop and his films. Ohh, wait a minute. I better speak to DSClassic or he could become black and blue quick. **Pulls out a samurai sword and begins to sharpen it** Peep quiet, eh? I suppose you're right, Frank, we are but shy little women who hide in our shells and cower; we wouldn't DARE speak up for our beloved Gary. **Slowly runs her finger against the blade.** Oh, and welcome to the group! We're delighted to have you aboard.
