*Pride Of The Yankees* STORMY MONDAY or SUNDAY BLOODY SUNDAY
-
How 'bout this'n -- A well known movie with a quite respectable sequel. In the first movie, the PI hero, needing to follow someone in a car at night, breaks one of the car's taillights, but not the bulb inside. He is thus able tail the car in night traffic without following so close as to be obvious. In the sequil, the PI can not take up the time to sit waiting for someone who is in a meeting. The PI takes a cheap pocket watch from his glove compartment, sets the time and winds it up. He places the watch under the wheel of the other person's car, then he leaves on other business. Coming back later, he finds the smashed watch with the hands telling him what time the car left that location. That was the information he needed. What films, what character, what actor??

Don't fight." Extra info: The author of the source novel for this film was paid a tribute of a showing of three films based on his works. This was on TCM on the evening of 3/13.

Joseph Fiennes in the title role of Martin Luther in *Luther* (2003). I don't know the context of the conversation or speech.

lavender; You wouldn't believe how much this embarassed me. I caught on to the "mobster's dad's girlfriend " clue, and then could not remember the name _Bergen._. OR the names of any of her films. I wound up scanning about 18 months of "Sopranos" episodes before I found it. I knew there was other stuff, but the only other thing I was sure of was the context where I first saw her -- those Pepsi commercials. Just glad I got it. But I've learned that I don't have the career-path info that works on this thread. lavender, as far as I'm concerned you can go again, or you can open up the thread. But it was fun, and gratifying, to get one. cmvgor

Did you also get early training in Pepsi commercials, circa 1957? Are you Polly Bergen?

From 1974-1976, Anthony Zerbe had a role in the ABC TV series "Harry-O", playing a fairly standard-issue role as a harassed Police Lieutenant, who had a lot of his problems caused by the title P.I. character played by David Janssen.
