Correct, of course. Check the imdb site, and you'll find an avid discussion of a possible remake -- ideal updated casting, etc. Also, I got a charge out of differences in technology then&now -- rotary-dial phones for instance. And computers: Given a criminal's nickname, the plolice did _not_ tap a few keys on a desktop and get an image on a screen. They pressed a few places on a unit taking up half a wall, the machine guided them to a drawer where the operator lifted out a photograph -- the correct one. It deserves to be shown more often. And a subplot that I wondered if it was deliberate. Sean Connery who for most of a decade had been playing a real ladykiller babemagnet, played a man who had a girlfriend all right. She was taken with him very much -- almost afraid of his effect on her. There is one scene where she complains that he is the only man with whom she is ****, and she thinks of that as not being in control of herself. In a subsequent scene with the other man in her life, that conversation is played back to them on one of the tapes of the title. The other man, who can pay for her expensive apartment, clothes, luxeries, etc, simply outbids the Connery character, and forces him to walk out of her life. (22 Views) Now that I've made use of _some_ of the clues I had prepared, the thread's yours, pastman.

Thanks, Unc. I started watching *Thunder Bay* couple months back and fell asleep. Trying another one: *1.* 1970s caper. Reporting a crime in progress: Ham radio operator in NYC reaches another Ham station in Hawaii, who reaches another in the US midlands, who phones it to New York. The NY operator refuses to take a collect call, so the caller pays. Soon after, another Ham operator calls the same message from Portland, Maine. Finally the NYPD gets word of an apartment robbery on E. 91st St, NY.NY. (8,459)

*Thunder Bay* (1953), with Joanne Dru??

Try getting information about *Three Came Home* (1950), which stars Claudette Colbert. It's the story of a woman's internment by the Japanese during WWII. Also almost any movie depicting the Holacost camps may include the feature of women having their hair cut short. Good luck.

*The Pelican Brief* ??

Noble Johnson as Queequeg, John Barrymore as Captian Ahab. Don't know the guy on the right. Maybe he's Moby Dick.

Sixes, you're absolutely right. *Pussycat* was, I think Woody Allen's first full script, and it was before he started directing. Essentially it was a no-plot string of routines built toward punch lines. If you get a chance, take a look at it. Anyway, thread's yours.
