Addressing visualfest;
Many thinks for the support. I had already scrolled back through this thread, and had found your earlier comments on that reference. I found that it, too, has a minimal-info site in the TCM lists.
Either title will get you there. I left a request about making a DVD, and I _will_ visit "suggest a movie" and post a request there. There's no such thing as too much Simone.
Addressing faceinthecrowd;
The _only_ thing I've come up with so far is *We Own The Night*, and I don't think that passes for
"classic". It was like last month or so, wasn't it? If that's not it, any further clues?
-
Negative re *McCabe & Miller*. The person who earlier and mistakenly named Paint Your Wagon was on to something, I think, but didn't follow it far enough.
*9.* Another member of the bumbling kidnap team is the former scout's present partner. They make a pretty good bumbling-idiot team at times. Cf Abbott & Costello, Cheech & Chong.
In a sequence about trying to steal the prizefight purse, they masqurade as consession vendors.

*8.* The Indian comes up with a plan to do harm to the Whites by using the hookers to spread VD.
-
*7.* The cheated partner had a reputation, somewhat honestly earned, Back In The Day when there was still a Frontier. Came to the attention of a dime novelist, and wound up being portrayed
in a couple of paperbacks. They sometimes came in handy when cadging drinks.

Sullivan, Harley -- Henry Fonda in *The Cheyenne Social Club*

Yo, vis;
1. I named a movie that I saw on network TV back in a day when I didn't know from cable.
I was already familiar with David Soul from "Starsky And Hutch".
2. I found it listed in IMDb, Wycapedia, and my volume of Leonard Maltin titles when I needed a little information on it.
3. The title you just mentioned, CHER INCONNOU, I stopped after IMDb, but I found no mention there. Did you spell it right?
Anyway, now that Shuffle has come to your attention, would you care to join me in petitioning TCM to show it? It seems there is no DVD and a VHS at $52 is just too much.
Would appreciate your support.

BINGO! (Dogpound Shuffle,alternate title: Spot)
It's been a chore to clue this one up without using the term "dogpound". And while dredging up the memories that I have of this film, I found myself becoming sort of a one-man cult. David Soul
("Hutch" of 'Starsky And...') was the young boxer, and American audiences had seen Ron Moody's dancing Fagan in *Oliver!* I don't know why it fell off the radar, and I certainly don't know what goes into marketing decisions. This is a film that would command the respect of adults, and children would enjoy it also. The confrontation with the meanie at the dogpound office has a payoff that I haven't mentioned here. In the final scene, they stroll the Vancouver waterfront while the Moody character (with Spot dancing around his feet) points across the Pacific and extolls the advantates of Australia as a place where a coluple of guys might make a new start.
If this description has aroused anyone's interest, I ask a couple of favors. 1. Go to the Dogpound Shuffle site in the TCM list and put in a vote to recommend having a DVD made. 2. Go to the "Suggest A Movie" link, and add a request to have TCM schedule a showing.
faceinthecrowd, the thread's yours if you want it. I would like to know how you came to the answer.

BRIT -- Biscuit
AMER -- Cookie
Brit -- Baton
AMER -- Submarine or Hero (sandwich)
-
That last one: La Bette ?
-
Negative re *Lady & Tramp*. Live action, Canadian location. City of Vancouver, to be exact. The young man became a TV series star soon after this filming. As mentioned, the old hoofer had been seen in a dancing role in a much better-known film.
-
What finally works: The young man uses a pretext to get the lady to open her door. The old dancer then calls to Spot from across the street, and Spot comes dashing out. Then there are complications invovlving street traffic.
-
*6.* The former partners' falling out was years ago when they mined gold together. One absconded with the gold _and_ with his partner's girl. That was the wife he refused to ransom when they crossed paths again.
-
Injun Joe -- Victor Jory in the 1938 filming of *The Adventures Of Tom Sawyer
-
The nice lady who has adopted "Spot" is not overly suspicious, but she _is_ security-minded.
It is very hard to get into her house.
-
*5.* The cast also includes a number of hookers, and a young woman who wants to join them.
-
BRIT -- Nickers
AMER -- Panties, drawers, briefs, shorts.
-
Conway.
Brad, Jim and Bette.
