I can't believe this subject baffled everybody, so I assume it interested nobody. I will go ahead and wrap it up, so the thread can be used by someone else in it's intended manner. Thee more questions. First, a little more sweeping-up: From Clue # 16; The two-unloaded-guns duel involved Clint Eastwood and Gian Maria Volante in the showdown that ended A Fistful Of Dollars. From Clue # 17, My memory had mis-served me about the ending of The Glass Key. There was a hospital scene that bore on the subject of the Boss' romance, but the actual ending had Brian Donlevy walking away and leaving Alan Ladd (fully recovered) and Veronica Lake to have each other, with his blessings. He just took his engagement ring back. (The movie aired again on TCM last night.) And some more sweeping up: Dashiell Hammett's imdb site names him as the source of Miller's Crossing, giving the titles of Red Harvest and The Glass Key Clue # 18. "Do you really think you can trade body blows with me?" Which title?

2, Confrontation. Two middle-aged men. One has had an affair with the teenaged daughter of the other man.
-
Here goes: # 1. Mid-90s domestic drama. Remarkable for set-ups that seem to be headed toward violence, but they move smoothly into reasonable solutions reached by mature and thoughtful people.

Again screwing with the punctuation: Report To The Commissioner: My Stepmother Is An Alien Preditor, In Enemy Country, Who'll Stop The Rain If A Man Answers When Eight Bells Toll After Midnight In The Garden Of Good And Evil... ...They Made Me A Fugitive From Hell To Borneo While You Were Sleeping, And The Band Played On Into The Night Of The Hunter...

1) "We sold the last beefsteak last night. You'll have to use a slice of Spam."

Youuu got it. Walter has an Oscar, Carol has Emmys by the truckload. Supporting actress Geraldine Paige was nominated for an Oscar for her work in Pete 'N' Tillie, but did not win until The Trip To Bountiful. Take it.

15, third swing. "Say, Guvn'r, you wouldn't be a copper, out 'ere tryin' to make things 'ard for a poor workin' girl, would ya?"

Jennifer Love Hewitt ran a mother-daughter congame racket in Heartbreakers with Sigourney Weaver.

15 one mo time. "Yeah? Well if you're so smart, answer this one: Why are our faces illuminated when the light is behind us?"

# 5 The father/husband is rather casual about marrage vows over the years. The wife/mother has a quietly hilarious confrontation in a restaurant with an overmadeup bimbo who has called the meeting to announce to the wife that she (the wife} will just have to give him up.
-
# 4. They have a son whom they both love deeply. The father and the son bond over their enjoyment of playing practical jokes on the neighbors.

Cheers and Bingo!, Dan. You're right and its yours now. (And do I get your support for the Politically Incorrect Crown?)

> "I know about you! Your name's not Bell, its Bellini; you're a ****, like me!. Stay away from my mother, you big ****!" Further info: Early 1960s crime & courtroom drama. The speaker is an unknown whose career never went anywhere. But the person addressed has an Oscar, and the mother he refers to has Oscars.
-
Negative re Double Harness. Think early 1970s. # 3. One star has an Oscar. One has Emmys. One support player was Oscar-nominated for this production.
-
Again with the punctuation: ...The Apple Dumpling Gang, The Sons Of Katie Elder, The Wild Bunch, The Choirboys, The Spikes Gang And Now Miguel -- All The Brothers Were Valient. They Died With Their Boots On...
-
Thank you, lb19. I'll make another try here for the Politically Incorrect Belt: "I know about you! Your name's not Bell, its Bellini; you're a ****, like me!. Stay away from my mother, you big ****!" Who? To whom? Film?

# 2. Serious story, but has some comic moments -- done by people who can handle them.
