...And I was completely off base. I did get the Beav reference, and thought about Harry, but
it's been years since I saw it. I remembered nothing about an unshod law officer (if I understood the free-verse correctly). I settled on The Shadow On The Window, which came out the same year, and which seemed to have some points that fit the description.
uncacharlie, looks like you have first choice or first refusal; by custom, it's your choice.

Goodby MR. Chips
Let's try some ORIGIONALS or REMAKES for a while:
THE WAGES OF FEAR or SORCERER

Leif Erikson (sometimes Erickson)
was the Boss ranch owner on the TV series The High Chaparral. Such a character is always issued a rebellious son or brother. His rebellious brother was portrayed by
Cameron Mitchell.

I think I've found it, and if I'm right, it isn't one I've seen. I'll stand down and see if anybody else logs on with it.

At about 10:30. some 20 minutes ago, a backlog of about 26 Emails came in together. They were
in reverse order -- top to bottom was earliest to latest. But it seems to be woring again. I don't know why.

Yo, pastman;
I'm enjoying your free-verse clues. Great misdrection; I wasted some time trying to look them up, thinking they were quotes from some source. Real Rod McKuen stuff. But, to level the field,
could you occasionally work in a reference to decade, national origin, performer, etc? Otherwise, its unique to this Forum, and quite a treat.
Incidentally, Paperhouse. 1988?

Tommy Chong ?

For the past 70 hours or so, I am not getting Email notices from TCM. I have "Watch This Thread"
request tagged on to some 6-8 threads, but now, new messages are coming in, on the message boards without the usual notice on my Email site.
...Is this just me?
...I recently had to call in the Geeks and deal with a virus. Would antispyware mistake TCM Emails for something they shuldn't let in?
...Can TCM try sending me and Email to see if a problem is encountered?
...Is this something that a "troll" could accomplish?

Belated:
Happy B-Day Prioress Delores Hart!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(Oct. 20, 1938)
For some reason, most of the stills from the movies she made before she took Orders show her
in profile while Presley, Hamilton and other co-stars get the full-face angles. I had to find non-film
shots in order to see her full face.

Ding! We've got a winnerrrr!
Do you have another one ready yet?

Not Omega, not Andromeda.
3. The lab where the germ was produced is sealed off, and no more of it can escape. The
authorities say they have no choice but to leave it that way. The hero-agent retorts that they have no choice but to go in there to make sure that the rest of it is contained.
(In case anyone's wondering, it is not the TV miniseries Stephen King's The Stand,
either.)
-
Negative re Zebra or Colossus. It is in color.
2. A wind-borne germ gets out of a lab. Police, agents, scientists watch horrified as they see news reports of people get out of cars, stagger around, drop down dead.

Well, if you've seen it, and the island didn't tip you off, the next clue (wedding with a corpse) would have. Let me try another, coming from a different direction. There are other kinds of Horror
besides the supernatural.
1. Cold War techno-horror. WMD, decades before that term was coined.
-
pastman;
You got it on three clues. It's yours if you want it.
-
Negative re Evil Dead. (Had to check. It's had a couple of re-issue titles, but that ain't one
of 'em.) Negative re Ghouls also.
3. An island setting. And there's a graveyard.
Logging off for a while for my Dexter fix.
-
Much too easy.
2. Incantation for raising the dead. Done as a mockery. Turns out the damned thing works.
-
Okay, I'll try one in that vein.*
1. Animated corpses.
