On the money, lavender. It was the story of a passage in the life of Barney Ross, a champion boxer (held world titles in three different weight divisions), who also was a war hero for actions in the Pacific with the US Marines. Wounded in an heroic action for which he was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross, he became addicted to heron during treatment for his injuries. The movie starts with his entry into a service-connected clinic to be treated for his condition, and flashes back to tell the bulk of his story. A great star vehicle for Cameron Mitchell.

a confrontation that needed an interpreter:
_Flathead Indian chief_ -- dialogue, rather loud, in his native language.
_Jeremiah Johnson_ -- "What's he sayn'?"
_Del Gue_ -- "He asks if you're the great warrier who avenges the crazy woman in the Wolf Tail Valley. She's strong medicine. You are too, if you be that man."
_Flathead chief_ -- more loud conversation.
_J.J_ -- "What's he shoutin' for?"
_D.G._ -- "Scared of you."
