BRIT: I got took queer.* AMER: I got sick. ...*Verbatum from the script of Simon Grey's 1971 stage drama Butley. Following lines in the same scene point out that this usage was now archaic, due to the evolved meaning of the key term. -

(2,036) No takers; I'll try again. This is from a fairly recent film, but it's on it's way to being classic, and I found it intresting. Opening Narration: ..."I met V.C. when I and my 8-gauge backed him up in a showdown he was having with some drunken mountain men. V. asked me right there on the spot if I'd care to partner up with him in his peace-keeping business. Which was why I was with him now, and why I still carry the 8-gauge. We'd been keeping the peace together for the last dozen years or so..." Closing narration: "I figured I'd saved V's career as a lawman, and given him another chance with A, at least for the forseeabale future. As for the unforseeable, it was out there waiting for me. I headed straight into the setting sun, and rode west at an easy pace. It was gonna be a long ride, and there was no reason to hurry." Film? Narrater?

Correct. It was always a royal edict. In earlier passages, I think it was also said by the preceding Pharaoh, (Cedric Hardewicke?) Anyway, RedBaron's thread.

> {quote:title=AnneHay wrote:}{quote} > Lisa Freemont - Grace Kelly in Rear Window Welcome to the Boards, AnneHay, but -- Ahem! When a cast-listed first name/last name is used in this game, it is the family name that determines the alphabetical position. Ms. Freemont would be listed in the "F" position. (This does not apply to single names or nicknames that appear in a cast list. Nor does it apply to two word names from other cultures that do _not_ amount to a given name/family name. One would not reverse the words in "Crazy Horse" or "Artful Dodger".) A more appropriate name for the "L" position might be something like Larrabee, Maude -- Nella Walker in the origional, classic *Sabrina*
