> Anyway, new quote: > > "Sarah just didn't seem to have a generous spirit. Maybe because she'd never had anything to be generous with." > > Who? Film? (It is narration, not conversation.) I've used this source before, so I'll let this one go. The speaker/narrater is "Gid" (Tony Perkins) in his musings over the woman he married (Susan Sarandon as "Sarah") instead of the title character *Lovin Molly*. Thread's open

Forget The *Godfather* conceit about spouses not being involved -- Mama Coreleone's detachment and Kay's instructions about "Don't ask about my business." One family matriarch in this epic, with a name out of Tennessee Williams, is up to her elbows in plotting mischief. Something like Connie in *Godfather III*, but more hands-on.

A young man arrives from Italy, supposedly to be in the bicycle race. But he has his own agendas. The actor in this role is just a couple of years away from a breakout role that would make him very big.

"...proceeds in life under the impression that someone he knows is a strange but benevolent presence..." That sounds like *Great Expectations*, where Pip thinks Miss Havasham is his benefactor, when actually he is being funded by an escaped convict whom he aided years ago when he was a lad. The other choice? The only thing I can come up with is Prof. Harry Hill pretty much taking over city govt. and school board to put down the trouble in River City in *The Music Man*. Any hits?
