Correct on *Drugstore Cowboy* Since the fiends made a practice of robbing drugstores, I had to manouver around that word while posting clues. Matt Dillon and Kelly Lynch hitting on all cylenders in a tough, unsentimental script. Novelist William S. Burroughs played Tom The Priest.

Dabbling into that subject again, I was reminded of a little factoid I picked up at some point in the last midcentury: An early 1960s mag story about the WWII personnel who dealt with unexploded
bombs during the London Blitz. The recruiting literature asking people to volunteer for this job mentioned that the ideal Bomb Disposal Officer should be "strong, unmarried and a fast runner."
Anyway, new quote:

That sounds like *Great Expectations*, where Pip thinks Miss Havasham is his benefactor, when actually he is being funded by an escaped convict whom he aided years ago when he was a lad.
The other choice? The only thing I can come up with is Prof. Harry Hill pretty much taking over city govt. and school board to put down the trouble in River City in *The Music Man*.
