  7. Thanks, Sixes. I just feel lucky. BTW, do you use the "watch this thread" -- Email hookup to keep track of the threads you're watching? I try to, but can't make the damn thing go since the last update of the system. TCMAdmin, bless their hearts, assure me they've set it up right, so it must be my fault. Maybe so. Anyway, an old favorite that came back to my attention recently. Not by seeing the movie again, but in a Bio Channel essay about one of the stars. Here goes: A closing comment: "Can love really travel back in time and heal a broken heart? Was it our joined hands that finally lifted M____'s curse? I'd like to thank so. But there's some things I know for certain: Always throw spilt salt over your left shoulder, keep rosemary by your garden gate, plant lavender for luck and fall in love whenever you can."
  8. Rogers (Major) -- Spencer Tracy in *Northwest Passage, Book I: Rogers' Rangers*
  9. Sixes, this is a rare incident of me having (I think) instant recognition. I did no reasearch except to go to a title site and make sure I had the right spelling for the name of one of the actors. If I'm right, that was Gene Hackman's opening comment regarding memories of his dad, Melvyn Douglas, in *I Never Sang For My Father*. Saw it once, years ago, but that opening impressed me. (??)

  11. > > "Liar, liar, pants on fire. Nose as long as a telephone wire!" I failed to varify your 90s reference, but the line was also said by Paul (Marlon Brando) to Jeanne (Maria Schnider) in 1872's *Ultimo tango a Parigi*, AKA *Last Tango In Paris*. Is that close enough?
  12. Phil -- Bill Murray in *Groundhog Day* (1993)

  17. Correct. For my next clue, I was going to expose the fact that it was a French film, subtitled. I think the title actually translates as "Boyfriend-Father" phroso's thread.
  18. Ingram, Rae -- Nicole Kidman in *Dead Calm* (1989)
  19. *4.* She is unresponsive to his efforts to direct her attention toward the eager young men her own age. Hilarious set piece at bedtime: She shows up at his bed, toting her pillow, determined to join him. Nothing sexual takes place, but she wins; at the end, she's sitting propped up against her pillow, reading a magazine.
  20. *3.* The girl continues to live with the widower, although there is the possibility of moving in with her biological father. This is okay with the real dad; he has one moment of suspicion, but it passes.
  21. Ellison, Thomas (Seaman) -- Eddie Quillian in *Mutiny On The Bounty* (1935)
