  1. Thanks, Eve. I was reasonably sure that there was an earlier film, but I made the wrong guess for a title to try to look it up. More recent, and on a lighter note: "I told you I'm a train man! Or at least a carrage. Man's got to be numb on both ends to make his living on the back of a horse. I just don't like horses." Source?

  15. Correct, Eve. I haven't read the source novel either, But I saw the movie on TV some time in the 80's , and one of the Showtime channels ran it a couple of times recently. Anthony Perkins (Gid), Beau Bridges (Johnny & end narrator) and Blythe Danner as Molly gave sterling performances. If you can track it down, it's worth a viewer's time. Eve's thread.
