I would remake THE SHINING. Gone would be the wild over-acting of Jack Nicholson, gone would be the cartoonish acting and face of Shelly Duvall...a different director would take care of that. Nicholson .would have a minor role, the role of the wife/mother would go to someone who would make the part somewhat beleivable... I think this film was a disaster because of a director and star who didn't really get the story. Portraying the father in a more sinister, slowly going mad guy, rather than a whirling dervish , quite nutty to begin with, would succeed where the first one didn't. New Cast: Father...Matt Dillon Mother..Virginia Madsen Scatman...Samuel T. Jackson Little Boy...search for an unknown...unfortunately, today the only child stars are obnoxious forty-year old little girls.

My film is from the same period, and strangely enough, it features a sack dress, worn by one of the three key players. It was a big literary hit, less so as a movie; but it did give the career of the ingenue a big boost.
