Female...Louise Rainer for THE GREAT ZEIGFELD instead of Garbo Male.......Lee Marvin instead of Rod Steiger for THE PAWNBROKER (a great performance) Film...CHARIOTS OF FIRE, instead of REDS...another great film! The only other snub I find unconcionable is Grace Kelly's win over Judy Garland"s triumph, A STAR IS BORN..Even cut to ribbons, it was far superior to The Country Girl...I guess they were still giving out Oscars to glam women who dared to appear on screen without makeup; a real test of acting ability.
