The only other snub I find unconcionable is Grace Kelly's win over Judy Garland"s triumph, A STAR IS BORN..Even cut to ribbons, it was far superior to The Country Girl...I guess they were still giving out Oscars to glam women who dared to appear on screen without makeup; a real test of acting ability.

With the exception of Diana Lynn, I think the cast performed on one note...too much manic behavior, too many prat-falls, not enough subtlty. I think many of the other Sturges films are superior to this one.
