There is a movie I would like to find about a woman who writes letters every day to a young man in the French Foreign Legion (maybe her son or grandson) to keep encouraging him. The trick is, she's dead. She found out she was dying shortly after he left, and wrote them all in advance, relying on a family friend to mail them regularly.
He doesn't learn the truth until he's discharged.
I can't seem to locate it. I thought an older Simone Signoret, (or some smoky voiced double for her) but cannot locate the title.
