  1. Aww, Robby is a sweetheart! Is this the model your son loves? I want one, lol! Or maybe it's this from Hallmark? When you care enough to send the very best robot: Edited by: Bronxgirl48 on Dec 17, 2012 12:36 AM

  4. The chicken noodle soup always gets me. And yes, Miss G., THE SHOP AROUND THE CORNER is indeed a miracle. I adore it for all the reasons you so eloquently state. When I was growing up, this and the 1937 Shirley Temple HEIDI really made me want to visit Germany and Switzerland, in the wintertime; all that gentle snow falling down on the sophisticated yet cozy European city neighborhoods -- even with all the unpleasant realities of life and human nature these stories depicted, I was always carried away into those picturesque, homey little worlds.
  5. > Do you know what movie it kept reminding me of, at least in the situations with the children? Jeux interdits (Forbidden Games) by René Clément. The little ones dealing with death and tragedy and relating it to animals. I wonder if Hayley's pop, John, was inspired by that movie when he produced Sky West and Crooked.> Thank you, Goddess! I had the same thought comparison -- FORBIDDEN GAMES was the movie my poor addled brain was trying to come up with (and failed) while watching SKY WEST AND CROOKED. Don't know why, but I'm not so sure John or author wife Mary Haley Bell were creatively influenced/inspired by anything Gallic, lol. I was also somewhat reminded of the children in A TASTE OF HONEY. And I can never get Tootie entirely out of my mind in these circumstances, lol. Edited by: Bronxgirl48 on Dec 16, 2012 9:50 PM
  6. Loved this movie that I've never seen before, Goddess! You definitely know what I like! I didn't realize the U.S. title is GYPSY GIRL (much prefer SKY WEST AND CROOKED) Picturesque, moody, with that charming romance -- lol, no, not Gypo. (the only Ian McShane performance I'm familiar with is his tour guide "Charlie" trying to woo Suzanne Pleshette in IF IT'S TUESDAY, THIS MUST BE BELGIUM) The Greek chorus children were exactly as you described them. Hayley is wonderful! I admire the way her early career was artfully balanced between the Disney roles and the less "commercial" British fare. Now I've got a yen to take another look at THE CHALK GARDEN and WHISTLE DOWN THE WIND.
  7. Mrs. Bellane is back again (whew) thanks to the fickle computer gremlins.
  8. Blast it! Your birthday MINISTRY OF FEAR photo has mysteriously vanished, and I couldn't access my edit button. Maybe this one will post (and stick around, lol): of[/i]Fear1,lovethat+cake.jpg]
