Interestingly (or...not, LOL) there is an actress called Martha Stewart in the cast of DAISY KENYON. "Our" domestic diva Martha has big ears and lobes. The ear connections abound......
-
Just think, if Garfield had played opposite Doris in the Ruth Etting bio it would have been called LOBE ME OR LEAVE ME.
-
Charisma and big earlobes.

I was surprised to discover that Sigrid Gurie was born in --- Brooklyn!!

Saw THREE FACES WEST and really loved Duke in it -- he gives such a gracefully authoritative performance; such star quality. He and Sigrid make a charming couple. The film is unpretentious, almost naturalistic. Seemed like THE GRAPES OF WRATH MEETS CASABLANCA. Roland Varno as Leni's fiance doing that surprising turnabout seemed an unncessary plot device to me, although it did allow the script to make clear father and daughter's true allegiances, and I liked the tree symbolism at the end. (putting down roots, and the eventual flowering) As the vet says, this movie for me is "a bullseye!".

Powell is just so damned CLASSY there, isn't he? I'll be looking at your McCLINTOCK screencaps for inspiration. I've got AT&T telemarketers on my back now. One good line from Duke might just symbolically blow them away.
-
Good, I know I'll like it then.

Thank you, Goddess! Maybe GARDEN OF EVIL will be a better odd western than JOHNNY GUITAR, which I'm not really crazy about, although it does have its moments.
-
I definitely will. I love the idea of the Duke "representing" me over the phone. He'll get rid of the telemarketers.

Wouldn't you love to fall for a gas pump jockey who turns out to be a millionaire? Personally, I would have married William Powell.

Yes, moira gave me a terrific start. I've seen bits and pieces of THREE FACES WEST; I always confuse it with a Gary Cooper film starring Sigrid Gurie, I don't know why. I always like Charles Coburn, but he speaks with a bad Scandinavian accent in WEST, doesn't he? I'll try to catch the whole movie tonight. Romance-wise, it's good to have "Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend" on your answering machine. Weeds out the low-income losers, LOL. Message was edited by: Bronxgirl48

moira, that's great, lol! yeah, I need "that'll be the day" for sure!

Imagine my chutzpah in introducing Gumby to this western thread (however, I did find him as a cowboy, LOL) And now I've driven Frank to fey weirdness as well. But to get serious.....I want to see GARDEN OF EVIL!
-
That's where I'd be scurryin' off to myself, not the bedroom, lol.

HAHAHAHA There wasn't a party in my tummy after that Chinese buffet, I can tell you. I'm taking Mom out for Mother's Day. Stay tuned on Monday for new gastrointestinal revelations.

LOL. Awww. Slurp! Nite-nite.
-
To me he's a romantic hero, funny, adorable, charismatic, charming, sexy. And pliable..
-
I can't, that's why I need to make an appointment with a psychiatrist.
-
I'll save you the embarrassment of a reply and go to bed now.
-
I'm actually in love with Gumby, even though he has no private parts.
-
You'll notice in that Gumby western clip there are no saloon gals, and Gumby and Pokey talk about being stiff. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Message was edited by: Bronxgirl48

I'm thinking of getting a personalized John Wayne celebrity impersonation for my voicemail, or maybe I should just record his own voice off one of the films. I've never done this before, so any suggestions would be helpful. Anyone have a good message I should have? ("pilgrim" would have to be included). Thanks! Message was edited by: Bronxgirl48

Isn't Gumby on your list? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NRGY31xq1fI

LOL I love SCTV but never saw that clip before.....John as Orson Welles! Actually my pyramid was larger, it was like a giant Lego you had to fit together, so it was the size of a tepee if I'm remembering correctly. You could sit or sleep under it. Unless you were Orson Welles. Message was edited by: Bronxgirl48
